John Kerry lauds free power for farmers
Former US presidential candidate meets Chief Minister
<snip>
During his interaction with the Chief Minister, Mr. Kerry praised the Government's innovative initiatives in providing free power to farmers, besides creating infrastructure and irrigation facilities. He lauded the programmes to promote health and education and enquired about the disabled and old-age pension.

Later, he met Mr. Naidu and sought to know the reasons for TDP electoral debacle in spite of pursuing a development agenda. Mr. Naidu cited consecutive drought for four to five years, anti-incumbency factor, tie-ups forged by the Congress with other parties and "some manipulation" of electronic voting machines as the factors for the defeat, according to TDP sources.

When the TDP leader referred to the EVMs' manipulation, the former presidential candidate reportedly remarked " It is our common experience".

<snip>
Talking to reporters, Mr. Kerry said that his suggestions on business process outsourcing were misrepresented in the Presidential campaign.

There's a lot to read out there on Sen Kerry's trip. I thought the machine manipulation comment was especially interesting.

1. Is it just me, or does he seem to be getting a lot more press
over there than he does over here? He could save a family of three headed kittens from a burning building while standing on his hands and it would go unmentioned by the US media.

3. It's not you. Maybe it is because they value intelligence over there,
whereas many Americans only value money. Or maybe it is just because their media isn't paid off by Shrub and company.
