1. He was my first
The first Presidential candidate that I ever worked for. He actually visited CA and I had a chance to shake his hand. It was quite a memorable moment for this teenager.

I have to admin that I am more partial to the other guy in those pictures. :loveya:

2. Dukakis was your first?
So you were ready for commitment by the time Big John came into the picture?

7. I was only four years old when he ran, but
I feel Dukakis gets a bad rap. He was smart, gentle, kind, and some stupid comericials brought him down.

8. Those horrible Willie Horton ads?
I read about those in my poli sci class this semester. Really, really low shit.

I do have to admit he did look like Snoopy in that tank, though.

15. Wow, three guys who ran for Pres.
Kerry, Kennedy and the late great Paul Tsongas. Those are great pictures.

Look how thin Teddy was. And John Kerry too!

I was moving out of Dorchester in Boston to a northern suburb in Dec. of 1988. We had hired a moving crew and I started talking with crew about this and that. Turns out one of the guys had been employed by the Dukakis campaign up until the month before and now was bucking crates for a living. Sure hope he got another day job. The stark reality of losing can be so harsh.

Love the pics!

18. "Four" guys who ran for Pres.
Damn, my whole voting history is flashing before my eyes with that picture. Any of those 4 would have been a great President!

11. I always felt bad for Mike
He's a good guy though, I loved his dig at Poppy Bush in the '88 debate, well I'd rather be an ACLU member than a NRA one. I just wish he had fought back more but I do like the man.

12. Dukakis is a wonderful guy.
He lives in my town, and I run into him all the time - on the street, at the supermarket. He and Kitty both graduated from the same high school my kids went to, so they attend graduations etc.

He's a modest, down-to-earth, very good man. And he would have made an excellent president.

Smart, funny, nice guy. He had a very bad time of it here when he lost. So sad. We haven't had a Dem. Gov since. (Wait til next year!)

Are those pics of the Lt. Gov swearing in or the Senate in '84?

14. me too
last year they replayed some of the debates from past campaigns on cspan and i saw some of the dukakis/bush debate and one interesting thing was how similar the attacks on Dukakis then were to the attacks on Kerry this time. and of course both ran against Bushes.
