John Kerry Condemns Iranian President’s Latest Disgusting Statement
John Kerry Condemns Iranian President’s Latest Disgusting Statement
December 14th, 2005

Senator John Kerry called for United States to condemn Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad today. He made the following statement today in response to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s escalated anti-Israel rhetoric:

“From the highest levels of our government, the United States needs to condemn forcefully President Ahmadinejad’s latest reprehensible statement. Silence in the face of hate speech is not an option. If President Ahmadinejad thinks he can call the Holocaust a “myth” and get away with it, he’s wrong. We must condemn his exceedingly hateful comments in the strongest possible way all over the globe. Silence and inaction allowed the hatred of Nazism to go unchallenged, the world must not repeat that grave mistake of history today. More than mere hateful attacks from an extreme ideologue, Ahmadinejad’s comments serve as a stark reminder that it’s long overdue to stand up to the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and lead an unrelenting international effort to make Iran cease its support of terrorism.”

1. This was wonderful.
That kind of thing has to be condemned in as strong language as possible.

I heard That Friggin Idiot's speech this morning. (In part. Hey, I'm only human.) Was it my imagination or was he calling John Kerry out again, only not by name. He had this horrifying episode where he read a letter from a soldier, 'who didn't vote for me last time' and then used the death of that soldier to show more support for his war.

David Wade: Rescue me! What a horrible speech. What a friggin shameless bastid he is.

2. Bush's speech?
The man knows no shame - he's happiest in campaign mode bashing an opponent. I couldn't watch.

3. I was expecting that Kerry would answer in some way.
I guess it will come later or that Kerry is tired to repeat himself.

OTOH, I was happy that he was co-sponsor of the Bill that wants to extend the Patriot Act for three months so that they can change the Bill that came out of Conference. A first answer to my question yesterday.

5. I was waiting for something also. I'm concerned the Reid,Reed, Levin
statements are not going to be received as forcefully as the ones Kerry and Murtha have made. Watching MSM-tonight, they gave Levin about a 15 seconds sound bit. Actually, the media made the Dems look pretty pathetic today. Apparently, at the same time RR&L were holding their press conference, several House Dem's gave a briefing after a visit to the White House and stated that they now had a better understanding of events and were more comfortable with what is going on.

4. The pressure by the Dems is being felt, I think
The WH is going full-out to counter the Dems, which means it's working.
And I know the Dems have no intention of letting up--we've got the people on our side, after all. I loved the Reid-Reed-Levin pre-buttal this morning. Unfortunately, I think only Cspan covered it! :(

As for the Failure-in-Chief, he's doing what he's best at--slick politicking and promotion of their agenda. I can just hear Cheney/Rove saying, "time to put the boy out there again". He WAS a cheerleader in college, after all--lol! He's good on appearances, terrible on substance.

6. Do you think so? I'm upset about what I've seen and heard today.
See my posted reply to Mass.

8. well, as I said,
if only Cspan gives them coverage, they will have limited effect. I did catch Levin on Hardball, and he communicated very well. Everyone just needs to keep hammering, and little by little they'll help this administration crumble. But that said, the biggest factor is going to be simply what happens in Iraq that gets covered.

Murtha is also out there--Kerry not so much this week, but he has been out there a lot, too. And I particulary like Harry Reid--he speaks with such heart, such sincerity that it's really effective.

7. Isn't this Kerry's second statement on the issue?
Here is the first, which I think is quite forceful. I don't even remember Bush responding to the comments last week:

12/08/2005

Statement by Senator John Kerry on Iranian President’s Assault on Israel

NEW YORK -- Senator John Kerry (D – Mass.) made the following statement today in response to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s comments on the Holocaust:

"Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's hateful assault on Israel continued today. For the leader of any country to question whether the Holocaust happened and suggest Israel be moved to Europe is beyond unacceptable. If President Ahmadinejad has any doubts about the Holocaust, he should have the guts to visit Auschwitz or talk to holocaust survivors about the horrors they can never forget. The holocaust happened in part because too many people failed to speak out about what was right and what was wrong. Not this time. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is an extreme ideologue whose hateful attacks against our ally Israel must be condemned in the strongest possible terms all over the world. This is worse than just reprehensible rhetoric from the head of the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism. Just this week, another suicide bomber from Islamic Jihad, an organization reportedly supported by Iran, killed five Israelis in Netanya. Beyond underscoring the urgent need to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, it is a stark reminder that it's long overdue for the community of nations to take strong and decisive steps to make Iran cease its support for terrorism."
