Kerry cautious on Alito

By Andrew Miga, Associated Press Writer | November 17, 2005

WASHINGTON --Sen. John F. Kerry on Thursday signaled he will take a more cautious approach on Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito than his Bay State colleague Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, who has emerged as one of Alito's most vocal critics.
...
Kennedy, a senior Judiciary Committee member, has been among Alito's most aggressive Democratic critics. Kerry has been less vocal and less visible on Alito, President Bush's pick to succeed the retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, widely viewed as a moderating influence on the court for more than two decades.

More cautious that Kennedy? I doubt that Kerry said that.

I doubt that Kennedy blasted Alito just after having met with him.

Thanks for posting, I have been wondering how that meeting went.

3. This makes no sense at all.
Sen. Kery just met with Alito today. Also, Kerry was pretty cautious on John Roberts and wound up voting against him.

Sen. Kennedy is on the Judiciary Committee. Kerry tends to defer to him and let him speak first. (It's his committee.) The same deference is paid back on other things. (It's only a matter of small degrees anyway.)

This makes no sense at all.

4. Kerry always defers to Kennedy on judiciary matters. Kennedy's on that
committee.

Kerry would never try to usurp a senior position. This report is a piece of assumptive crap.
