1. I was surprised by the content of this e-mail...
I've never heard of a senator buying billboard space to support one of his initiatives. Lobbying groups, yes, but not the lawmakers themselves. (Of course if anyone does know of other examples of this, I will stand corrected. But it just seems highly unusual to me.)

Kerry really wants a lot of exposure and credit for this plan! Can you imagine what it would mean for, um, future prospects if he got the lion's share of the credit for ending the war?
