This group is growing by leaps and bounds! HELLOOOO NEWBIES!
Can we have another newbie intro thread? There are so many wonderful new people showing up here. I have been posting a little less due to being real busy with school and work, and every time I log on, I see new names! Can the newbies check in here and say a quick howdy? I'd love to "meet" everyone.

Welcome! :hi:

This is the best forum on DU. We're smart. We know the facts. And consequently, we love and support John Kerry!

6. Welcome newbies!
We have a tradition here of asking newbies to check in and tell us a little bit about themselves. (Or not, if you are shy.) It's a tradition, damn it!

(If we all do a good job, we get cookies, or pic threads)

I am TayTay. I hang out here because they let me (and I am a big fan of Sen. Kerry's.) I am a lifelong resident of Massachusetts and have the indecipherable accent to prove it.

Newbies, it's going to get lonely in ths thread if you don't check in. Then Vektor will get sad and won't make any more haikus for us. (To go along with her ardent, passionate, intelligent and highly readable posts that totally rock in support Sen. Kerry.)

So, check in already! I'll share mine if you share yours! (Ahm, that's not as bad as it sounds, honest.)

MWF, 25, NS, enthusiastic drinker, ISO tall Democrat to throw panties at. Enjoys pantsing Democrats, voting, good citizenship, media studies, crafts, and ending sentences with prepositions. Pittsburgh to West Coast transplant (so mess with my homegirl THK and live to regret it), ardent Kerrycrat.

Good?

20. Hey jenndar!
Welcome fellow 'burgher. You'll be happy to know that there are a couple of us here who call Pittsburgh home. The Massholes have kindly allowed us to adopt their Jr Sen, but we're not leting go of THK. They can't have it all.
Do you come to town often? When you get back, let wisteria and I know, and we'll hook up for Drinking Liberally or something equally fantastic.
Hope to see you soon, I'm sure PA misses you!

22. THK is a foster Mass soul
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 08:56 PM by TayTay
I still remember the Medford Ladies who were so disappointed that THK wasn't at Faneuil Hall in April to speak. They 'settled' for hearing the Junior Senator from Massachusetts address the crowd. Sigh! They just loved Teresa. (But, in a pinch, her husband will do.!) That was so damn funny.

Anyone on this board is sort of an adopted Mass soul. I mean, come on, on the face of it, you have at least some Mass in ya. The least I can do is reciprocate. (I also feel really, really bad for our good friends in PA and Virginia who have to suffer through these awful Rethugs.)

23. Tay Tay, I have to tell you this...
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 09:13 PM by globalvillage
I was working in my hotel room Wed afternoon, dressed in a JK/JE t-shirt and sweat pants, and ran down the hall to the vending machine for a diet.
Well, of course, I lost $$ in the dreaded machine and had to hit the elevator to the next floor, and ran into a co-worker from Boston.
Well, this is a person who has never known my politics, and her comment was "That's very Massachusettsy of you". Got several comments from passers-by and the rest of the Boston contingent who were waiting downstairs.
I guess I've been 'outed'. I'm an adopted Masshole, and I think they love me all the more for it.
You Mass people rock. You really, really do...

on edit:
we're not giving up Teresa, she's ours.
:P

25. Well, Mass folks are getting a complex from all the bashing
So it's very cool to see someone who actually likes us. (How many other states are called out as much as Mass by the Rethugs. We are apparently their ideer of hell or something.)

So, thanks to you and everyone else who really like us. That means a lot. (Seriously, even our Gov hates us. What the hell is so bad aobut Massachusetts liberals? Geez, you'd think that we'd get a little gratitude for starting the revolution that started this nation and for not taking shit from anyone. No respect, I tell ya, no respect at all. We are the Rodney Dangerfield of states.)

By the way, THK rules. We love the luscious first lady of Pittsburgh and of PA. She is a lovely woman and her continuing influece on my Jr Senator is just amazing and great. (Seriously, she has had a profound influence and for much the better.)

28. Well, they were from Mass and DC...
But to continue the story of my extensive Kerry wardrobe (which I added to yesterday by purchasing a fairly unattractive "Don't blame me... t-shirt. The design was not great, but the sentiment was priceless)...
After the Blitzer interview (I watched it at a news stand at Dulles), I pulled my johnkerry.com pin out of my bag and wore it to celebrate. On the flight home, I got SO MANY comments. All pretty positive.
One guy said "he's not running for anything, is he?" (not at all snarky, just a question), and my answer was "no, but he's still working, isn't he?". The guy agreed, and we got into a discussion about how it's all about '06 now and about the Iraq withdrawl plan. A young girl across the aisle said she couldn't wait till '08 for JK.

DC-Pitt flight. No neocons allowed.

And I'll share THK if you'll share her hubby. I just love him more every day. Very proud of your/our Jr Sen.

I do not come back to town often :( But I'll be back over the holidays! And I represent by wearing my Heinz pickle pin on my coat every day. I must concur that THK belongs to us and us alone!

Glad you could come over. I loved your posts in GD.

Ahm, I think I can help you out with that wish. Ahm, but it's kind of wonky. (Ahm, I follow fisheries hearings. It doesn't get any wonkier than that without being beat up for your lunch money.)

18. Thanks for the intro-thread, Vektor.
I'm not even sure if I've introduced myself.

I'm happy to have discovered the kerry forum. Vektor, the first time I saw your haiku's my jaw dropped to the floor.

However, having seen a flame thread in GD last week and seen the heat your haiku's generated to the 'leftie-trolls', I've decided to write some Haiku's myself...or to at least steal some of yours.

Gives new meaning to 'flaming' ...huh?
