Here is Kerry's editorial in Spanish about Latin America
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 06:53 PM by Mass
For those who dont read Spanish a short summary: (I think it is correct, my Spanish is a little old.

It is time that Bush want to get involved with Latin America

Kerry criticizes the action that Bush took in Latin America, where Bush has promised a lot, but given little.

He remind us of the importance of Latin America both for trade, terrorism, and immigration, and hopes that Bush will at last propose a strategy for Latin America. If not, the anti-US feeling will increase and we will lose support and opportunity.

He lists the goal of a good cooperation: fight for democracy, against poverty, security at the borders, justice in immigration, and environment.

Then comes his criticism of CAFTA, because it is unfair to workers over there and biased towards corporations. He says there is a way to do it fair, but this is not what Bush chose.

The two next paragraphs are about immigration, the existing difficulties and the urgency to work with Fox to find a solution.

The last paragraph is about the need to define a world of peace and cooperation between the two continents, and the fact that the War on Terror should not make us forget that this is important to our future.

Altogether a nice article, defining good goals in accordance with a progressive policy.

I am not totally comfortable with his attack on Chavez and Castro, but I imagine that this is something given to those who will read the article in Miami.

Also Kerry's senate site has a translation in Spanish of his Georgetown's speech.

2. This is an editorial in a Miami newspaper, which has supposedly
a lot of Cuban-American readers, who dont like any of them.

(not sure you can qualify Castro and Chavez of cool, but they are not as bad as Bush would want to say. He is using them as scarecrows).

If this is for the Anti-Castro, Anti-Chavez crowd, It's ok. They're the ones with the "Viva Bush" stickers. Our school board director is one of them.
