MSNBC is showing response from Sen Kerry this morning.
I think the story is re the Libby indictment and the connection to the war. Did anyone catch it? I was half listening until I heard his voice, and missed the beginning.

1. Well...
against my better judgment, I turned on the television. (Usually the Sunday shows spike my blood pressure.) MSNBC is hinting that there may be a new Supreme Court nomination soon. The poor Bushies, that must be the only scrap they have to toss to the press.

I'm in Central Standard Time, not much on yet.

2. I'm happy to hear he got some air time. MSNBC ignores him
whenever they can.

3. I've been thinking about this whole press thing, not just about JK
And what I have realized is that the ONLY message we ever getout there is dems bashing republicans.

I started to really feel it when I got that letter from Kerry. And I started that thread to discuss it.

But then I listen to Randi, Ed, my local guys and that is all they do.
Rove this, Bush that. Bash bash bash. Yes - please talk about it. But that is ALL they talk about, how screwed up this administration is.

Just for once I would like to turn on AAR and hear Randi say "Wow - did anyone catch Kerry's speech last nite from Georgetown? He was on fire.
He said .... and ...... And it will be on C-Span this weekend. Make sure you catch it." Or have Mike Malloy say "Harry Reid coming out and supporting Harriet Miers from day one was a brilliant political move."

But NO ONE ever says that. The dem party doesn't have one person representing us that is actually praising the work that the dems are doing. I watch the senate whenever I can, and I am always proud of many of the dem senators. But no one ever discusses it. The word doesn't get out there. So what happens? We get a bunch of frustrated registered democrats walking around asking the question, "Where are the dems? Where is their spine?". Yes, I know that Reid is all over the papers today. But when I listen to AAR tomorrow, it will be nothing about Reid, it will be all about Rove. It is so frustrating.
It's time to take this to a new level. A new level of awareness. People that are going to promote OUR agenda, talk about OUR accomplishments and make that the topic of conversation. Yes, talk about how f-ed up things are too, but give the dems that are out there fighting some air time as well. Why don't they ever say "Log onto Kennedy's website and check out his new petition."????

Phew - ok - time to take a breath.

4. Great points.
Talk up what we are doing, rather than just bashing them.

Ah, must trundle off to bed, otherwise I'd probably try to add to what you said. But you said it pretty well.

5. I agree, no one ever knows what the Dem's do because these
things aren't reported on enough. The media never really seeks out a Dem to reply to serious issues either. We only get asked to bash, so to speak. I always come away with the feeling that Repubs are more knowledgeable and their opinions more respected. I think the media plays into the premise of the left being void of ideas and loony.

8. Well said. The media gets away with their lie that Dems offer no plans
because the left leaning media rarely bothers to discuss it.

You should rework your post into a GD post and hope that Malloy and Randi see it.

I will gladly give you back up.

9. This is exactly right
Except they have the few who they will respond to, Boxer, Conyers, Kucinich, Feingold. If some action alert or opinion doesn't come from one of them, they ignore it altogether. Hoping for bad luck and Republican screw-ups for the next year isn't the best strategy for winning. Yesterday there was a thread attacking the Patriot Act, which we will see more of. The Senate version addresses the bad parts of the Patriot Act and is supported by the ACLU, PFAW and others. But that information isn't getting out. We're going to miss the opportunity to get support to get the Patriot Act fixed because of kneejerk syndrome. There are pieces of legislation that are missed every day because the noise machine that we do have doesn't focus on what's important.

10. This is exactly right
And Sandy is also correct in what she wrote.

I have been listening to the Rosa Parks ceremonies today both at the Capitol and at her Memorial Service. She faced horrible odds on what happened and she fought really hard. But she also symbolizes a movement that also fought back with hope and song and resolve. Nothing ever would have happened if a defeatist attitude had been allowed to derail everything. (Remember the odds and what pioneering women and brave men went through then.) Gawd, we have to carry joy and optimism forward as well or we are truly lost.
