Keep hearing on the news about the flooding there.

1. Fine and dandy!
We got a lot of rain, but it's okay. I think the usual low-lying areas got some flooding, but it should be okay.

I only got 2-3 inches of rain, so, it's no big deal. I think some spots got 5-6 inches, so they might be a bit soggy by now.

Thanks for the concern.

4. I've not heard that, but they evacuated 200 people in Greenfield
Apparently, the river was raising fast.

2. Well, the rain fell hard all night long
Apparently, we were lucky. We only had 6" of rain (I heard some places around Greenfield had up to 12"), but there were flooding not far from where I am this week-end, I heard (Springfield, MA). The rain has stopped, but it seems more is planned for tomorrow.

I have not heard how it was around Boston. Any news.

5. Wow, 12" of rain is a lot
What would that be in snowfall, like 10 feet. We're lucky it's October.

Not bad here in the far nothern reaches of MA. Wet, but the drains are doing their job. Another week and it would be worse as they would all be clogged with falling leaves.

12" is a lot of rain. Wow. Hope they are alright.

6. Fine here - thanks for asking!
I haven't watched the news all day. We were on the eastern edge of the storm, and lucked out. It rained all yesterday and all last night, but we didn't get flooded.

7. All's well where I live
Western Mass got drenched, as did parts of New Hamster. But I'm in the northeast corner of Mass, not that far from TayTay.

8. My sky lite in my bathroom sprung a leak!!
We had torrential rain all Sat. night and into Sunday. More coming tomorrow. I think the western part of Ct. got the worst of it, but more is heading in tomorrow toward the eastern part of the state.I was up all night Sat. to watch that the buckets didn't overflow. My future son-in -law went up on my roof to put a tarp over it. It has to dry out for at least three days before he can reseal it, inside and out. I'm going to have to replace the drywall tape on the ceiling. I'm just grateful that I'm far enough up the hill from the Naugatuck River 'cause it's real high. It got me once in '55, that was enough!! They've put up 3 new dams since then! Makes you feel even more for the Katrina victims! Have you all been keeping up on the new FEMA atrocities? Keith had an item on tonight about the "missing" and misdirected ICE. I also just read that they are trying their damnedest to hinder folks finding their missing loved ones, perhaps to cover up the amount of dead in NO!! Where were the mobile homes floating down the river? I live in a double wide on the river in Thomaston. :grouphug: DC

10. Be safe sweetie!
The worst of the rains should be gone after Thursday afternoon. Check in here and let us know that you are okay, as another 4-7 inches could fall.

11. I didn't feel a thing.
I saw that we had one (1.5) in the Lowell Sun, and it surprised me. Actually New England does have a pretty good fault line running through it and we are overdue for an earthquake. (There was a quake in 1745, I think, or so that is estimated to have been a 6.0 or better. Such a quake today would devastate Boston. That city is built on sand and landfill and a quake would bring down the entire Back Bay. Hmmmm, something to think about.)
