Sherrod Brown or Paul Hackett ?
seeing some of the threads from the news of Brown planning to run for Senate which would put him in a primary against Hackett shows how some are uninformed.

there were some reactionary comments from those who viewed it as a dlc conspiracy. but Sherrod's big issue is being against open uncontrolled free trade.

it will be interesting if the dlc ends up endorsing Hackett. i wonder who Dennis Kucinich will endorse.

i wonder what we will see on DU then.

1. It may highlight some of the lack of thought in picking political heros
on DU.

They love Hackett because he's an Iraq war vet who called Bush a chicken hawk - which gives him a pass on all other issues. Heads may explode if Kucinich endourses Brown.

3. I dont know enough about these two candidates
but it is amazing to see that both kos and mydd.com are making the case for Brown running.

Hackett (like Naggin and some others) is the perfect case of people confusing their wish to see people talking up against the governement and the fact that people are right on the issues. Ideally, you need somebody who can do both.

5. He looks more liberal than Hackett, according to this document,

(just a little less liberal than Kerry on social issues and a little more on economic issues - that seems good for OH).

Interestingly, they find him at the same position as Kucinich.

6. David Sirota
has an interesting piece up on this very question, Divvying Up Ohio in the American Prospect.

His solution: Brown should go to the Senate and Hackett to the House.

7. I agree.
Hackett's race was very close. In a Dem year, he well may win that House seat.

Brown is the better state-wide fundraiser. Both candidates would need a 'Dem year' in order to get elected in Repub Ohio.
