Our President (pics)
Fuck it. If they can "create their own reality", so can we.

President Kerry. The diplomat who was supported by 99% of the world. That's what I call a mandate!

4. Fantastic pics!
I like KerryWorld. It is such a much more hopeful, and reasonable place to be. The differences between the REAL President and that psuedo-crank who's been squatting in the White House is infintesimal. My favorite is the first. It's nice to see our President looking thoughtful, listening, and reaching out. Thanks for posting the pics!

Perhaps a bit of this...

And a lot of this....

Will get us this.....

10. I thought it was so cool
how right after John accepted the nomination and got ready to go off in the bus to talk to America, he made reporters wait for interviews because he was getting cel phone calls from foreign leaders.

EVERYONE trusts him, and I really think John being president would eventually lead to a greater level of world peace than we have ever seen. sigh, we have got to get this man to the white house.

13. that is an excellent idea
I am a scrapbooking enthusiast, but haven't done a bit since school started in the fall. Now I'm on break, maybe I'll start getting a collection together. I have a boatload of scrapping supplies, too.

I need to get my Hillary pictures developed. We were very close at the rally, and she was standing at a podium with a big Kerry/Edwards sign on it. She gets a lot of static, I know, but she spoke very sincerely about John's greatness, and talked about why he'd make a great president. It wasn't a promote-any-dem speech, it was a truly inspiring one.

14. yes, Hillary was a great supporter of Kerry
there is a lot of bashing of Hillary that goes on which claims she wants democrats to fail so she can be president and other conspiracy theories which are just repeats of what right wingers claim.

but for those who actually heard Hillary and Bill Clinton and what they said about Kerry, there is no question how much they admired him and supported him and wanted him to be president. in fact they were some of the best i have heard. not just the words but the way they spoke, you can tell they really believe in him.

in fact Hillary early on during the vote on the 87 billion dollar package thing for Iraq told Kerry that he should vote for it because it could hurt him in the general election. the interesting part about this was that this was before the states started voting in the primary and at a time when Kerry wasn't down in the polls and many considered his campaign over. but it shows Hillary still believed in him.

I think they've seen what he could do as a workhorse for the party.

He's injured himself politically to touch hot potatoes no one else wanted. How can people say he only does these things for political gain. What freakin' political gain? I don't see any political gain.

18. That Is So Very True LittleClarkie
Kerry has proven more than once he would take on issues others wouldn't dare touch because they were the one's afraid of what it would do to their political career. Kerry doesn't think only of himself and his political career he thinks of what's best for this country and those living in it. He has been advised by people not to do certain things because of the damage it might do to his career, but Kerry did them anyway because he felt that it was the right thing to do. A couple of examples was he had people advising him to stay away from the POW-MIA, eventually he had people on both sides of ailes telling him to drop the BCCI, and a more recent one was Clinton trying to give him advice on the the gay marriage thing during the campaign all of which I might add Kerry didn't listen to and he did what he felt was right. Kerry has a mind of his own and he will listen to the advice of others but if he doesn't agree with it he doesn't take it and he has proven that over and over again. That is one of the things he is highly respected for.

20. One Thing I Get Sick Of
Is people comparing him to Clinton and acting as if he needs to change his ways and be more like Clinton. First off he is not no Clinton and never will be and has turned the advice down from the Clinton's more than once. The Clinton's have there own style and their own ways of doing things and so does John Kerry. And Kerry didn't get where he is in life by trying to be someone he is not. The Clinton's are well respected people in this country and alot of people including myself have supported them. But John Kerry is also a well respected person and is supported by many of those who supported them. You respect and like a person for who they are not what you want them to be. And John Kerry respects others opinions and feelings and advice but as I said this man has his own and he will do what his heart and mind tell him to do not what others tell him. That is what makes John Kerry a great man respected many.

25. Clinton was Clinton
he was a better president than a lot of people give him credit for. But John Kerry is his own man. Different styles, different angles, different agendas, different men. Kerry is what we need NOW.

You're so right angrydem--his values always put him on the high road. A lot of people get impatient with people who do the right thing instead of the popular thing. I don't think it's really because they don't have integrity, it's just that JK seems to have an insight to how things will play out that a lot of others don't. Geez, does that make sense? Didn't quite think it as a babble, but it lost something in the translation.

30. Very true!
Clinton got rolled in his first couple of months in office. The Rethugs, still a minority in the House and Senate, were waiting for him to make mistakes so that they could pounce on them. It was so nasty. (Clinton had two days of a 'honeymoon' then, BAM, Gays in the Military. Very effective fiasco that neutralized a lot of good will. Then TravelGate, HillaryCare, and a load of other things that were well-intentioned and badly handled.) Kerry did supply some cover for Clinton by boosting the COPS program and suggesting that they up the total number of officers to be funded federally to 100,000. (Clinton, eventually, reciprocated by finally signing the normalization of relations with Vietnam.)

Long damn story, but I always thought the Clinton's liked Kerry personally but thought he was too liberal to be used as a central character or point man in their admin. The irony of reading DU today is that Kerry was not a DLC kind of guy. (Boy is that ironic.)

Anyway, did you guys ever read this incredibly long but fascinating profile of Kerry in the New Yorker? The writer had actually followed Kerry since 1971. It's complex and inteeresting.

17. I didn't know that
about her advice to him. She is a really sincere lady, and you could just tell she meant what she said about him. She had great comparative statistics also. And, she made fun of herself a bit in favor of John, when she said that he would be really sure no child was left behind, something she "tried" to do, but that he would do.

23. God, I love the REAL President so much....
Viva our Shadow Government! Viva the President-in-Exile! (well, in the Senate)

This hits so close to home. I have a close family of mixed nationality, on two continents--and the ** "re-selection" was such a punch in the gut because it had been so important to me to convince the rest of the world that most Americans do NOT support ** or his arrogant, ignorant, callous policies. I wanted to see public repudiation in front of the world. I wanted it SO BAD. I still do.

I'm glad to see Kerry joining Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton among the ranks of great American leaders who DO represent me when they visit others, who talk sense and sanity and co-operation and compassion--and are honestly beloved for it. I'm hoping that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee can be a locus of the Shadow Government and manage to stand up to the BFEE, bolstered by the real information Kerry's gathering. That's my greatest hope for saving this country. I know it's a slim one, but it's all I've got right now.

Don't forget to watch the Foreign Relations Committee hearing where they will examine the nomination of Condoleezza Rice to be Secretary of State. That should be a good one and our man will be their raking her ass over the coals. It is Jan. 18th 9:00am - 12:00pm then they will break and it picks back up fron 2:00pm - 5:00pm and the same schedule on the hearing on the 19th and it will be live on C-SPAN.

That should be interesting. "So, Ms. Rice, in your capacity as National Security Director and an expert on Russian Studies, did it ever fucking occur to you that the Cold War model of fighting our enemies might not apply to fighting fucking terrorists? Ever? That the friggin cold war is over and that we need to fight an enemy that is not a nation-state and that you might want to recommend monetary and policy iniatives that actually protect the damn vulnerable areas in our country. Ever tried to get Shit-for-Brains, the guy you once referred to as your husband, to put down the coloring book and have an actual conversation with an expert on Islamic and Middle Eastern politics? How many friggin terrorists have you people put on the streets with your brain-dead, idiotic and foolhardy policies?"

Well, he would say this, if he talked like me. I dare say that it might come out a bit differently on C-Span.

38. Realities
There are so many realities parrallel universes, according to string theory. John Kerry is U.S. Senator in the "official" reality (press reports), but at the same time most definitely American president in DU reality.
On some level, I think Kerry is aware of this, but the "official" reality only allows him to lay it between the lines. Remember when he met the Syrian President and the press recorded this dialogue:
Syrian Prez: "I wish you were President." (read, "I know you really are the president)
Kerry: "I do too." (read, "I thought you would understand")

I love string theory, even if I don't understand much of it.

Philip K. Dick had some interesting things to say about alternate realities as well, and some of his stories are frighteningly close to the current one.
