This is the NJ letter from - references grassroots, volunteers
Thought this might be interesting - last year, the effort in NJ was pretty minimal, so it's good he's involved.

Letter:

Dear XXXXX,

In just two months, as you know, New Jersey voters will head to the polls for the 2005 elections in the Garden State. These elections are extremely important for the future of New Jersey, and we need your help for the next eight weeks to elect my good friend Jon Corzine as your next Governor and to help Democrats win up and down the ticket.

This Saturday, September 10th, I will travel to New Jersey to help Jon Corzine and the New Jersey Democratic Party get ready for this critical election. I will crisscross the state to rally the strong New Jersey Democratic team, recruit volunteers and help raise funds for our coordinated efforts to elect Democrats in New Jersey on November 8th.

Please join me on Saturday, September 10th at one of the great events New Jersey Democrats are organizing across the state.

9:30 AM Volunteer Rally and Canvass Kick-Off with Jon Corzine
IBEW Local 164
205 Robin Road
Paramus, NJ RSVP

11:00 AM Community Rally

12:30 PM Morris County Volunteer Rally
Jimmy's Haunt

Please sign up if you would like to attend one or more of these events across the state. It would be so great to see as many of our friends in New Jersey as possible on Saturday.

Whether or not you can attend one of these events, please sign up to volunteer and become a Corzine Connector in your community.

In order to achieve victory in 2005, we need to recreate the incredible grassroots energy and excitement that we witnessed during the 2004 campaign in New Jersey and across the country.

It's clear that the Republicans are desperate these days. Voters are realizing the danger of Republicans' risky policies, and the lack of understanding, compassion, and support from Washington Republicans these days is frankly embarrassing. They will do anything and say anything to try to win.

We need leaders like Jon Corzine who will put the needs of New Jersey families first. And we need your help to get ready for these critical elections taking place in just eight weeks.

Please join me in supporting New Jersey Democrats this Saturday by signing up to attend one of the events listed above, and please remember to sign up to volunteer:

Your help today will make the difference in New Jersey this year. You did so much to help Democrats in 2004, and we need you now more than ever. Republicans want to win back the Governor's mansion in the worst way. We have the power to stop them and to elect Jon Corzine the next Governor.

Please join me on Saturday and for the next two months to ensure victory for Democrats in New Jersey in 2005.

Thanks again for all you do for the Democratic Party.

John Kerry

1. Unfortunately, he'll never come to VA to help Tim Kaine
My state is too red, and JK would be a liability here. That's the facts from the ground. Totally disheartening indeed.

I especially liked this line from his letter:

It's clear that the Republicans are desperate these days. Voters are realizing the danger of Republicans' risky policies, and the lack of understanding, compassion, and support from Washington Republicans these days is frankly embarrassing. They will do anything and say anything to try to win.

I saw a clip of that press conference from yesterday on Jim Lehrer, and Kerry had his arms crossed and looked totally pissed off. I would like to see a speech from him soon, and see what he's thinking. We may be seeing a pissed off Kerry for months to come, with the continued * blunders that wouldn't have happened had JK been president.

Looking forward to your report Karynnj!!

Kerry to speak at political rally in Morristown

Former presidential candidate to help Morris County Democrats motivate and recruit volunteers

BY MEG HUELSMAN
DAILY RECORD

MORRISTOWN -- U.S. Sen. John Kerry is scheduled to speak at a rally in Morris County on Saturday as the Democrats kick off their fall campaign, Kerry spokeswoman Katharine Lister said Thursday.

Kerry's appearance, on behalf of Morris County Democrats, will be part of a statewide effort to motivate and recruit volunteers in New Jersey.

"The day's events are intended to get volunteers excited across the state, including Morris County,"said Andrew Poag, spokesman for the New Jersey Democratic State Committee.

Kerry also is scheduled to appear Saturday at similar events in Paramus, Wayne, Edison and Lawrenceville.

Kerry, in his second term as a senator from Massachusetts, was defeated by President Bush in the 2004 presidential election. For the past year, he has made efforts across the nation to boost support for the Democratic Party.

State Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman also will speak at Saturday's rally in Morristown.

Helen O'Connor, vice chairwoman of the Morris County Democratic Committee; Dana Wefer, a Morris County freeholder candidate; and Joe Krawchuck, president of Morris County Building Trades, also are scheduled to speak.

The rally will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Jimmy's Haunt, 217 South St., Morristown. Suggested contribution for each attendee is one case of bottled water, which will be sent to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

3. My local paper! Which did endorse Kerry
but now seems to think that he's a TWO term Senator. (Maybe they have 12 year terms in MA!) They did put a little picture and a reference to the article on the front page.
