Nice Kerry quote I found
I was starting to do research to deflect the idiocy that is sure to follow on 'who voted to create the HSA' thing.

The main difference between the parties is that Democrats want to pay for the spending, while Republicans are content to borrow from our children to pay for it. Today's GOP believes in the ``free lunch'' that we were all taught didn't exist. Future generations will suffer as a result. John Kerry, 11/19/02 Congressional Record

1. Oh, and about that HSA vote in the first place
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 09:17 PM by TayTay
It was a Democratic initiative that the Bush Admin resisted at first as hard as they could. The idea was that one single agency might not have the communications problems that the separate and non-communicative agencies had all had around 9/11. (You remember, we must share info when it comes in and have a central processing base.)

The dialogue in the Congressional Record shows a few floor speechs by Kerry. He was supporting a stronger response to the need to getting everyone on the same page as far as information coming in. He was opposed to some of what the Bushies were doing, including all the problems with locking out unions on TSA. And Kerry specifically talks about infrastructure problems in the floor speeches.

Anyway, this sound like the next skiff that the lefty freepers will attempt to put out to sea. The HSA, in theory, is a good idea. The HSA, as implemented by Bush, is a crony laden agency that is slow, inefficient and bumbling.

Read the debate about the Homeland Security Agency bill at:
http://thomas.loc.gov/home/r107query.html

Search terms are

107th Congress, second session
Senator is Kerry
Words are Homeland Security
Date is 11/19/02

Have fun.

2. I've got a question for you Tay Tay...
You are really well versed in Kerry;)
You seem to know more about him than most.

You live in HIS state - you lucky lady.

Have you ever thought of applying for a job in his Mass office:9
You would definitely be an asset! You'd make sure he got his message out. That would be the perfect job for you.

Get that resume' ready.
And after you get hired, let them know that you know someone who actually likes doing paperwork:hi:

3. Doing what?
Ahm, I mean doing what legally and morally?

Thanks! But he has very fine people working for him now. And I like freelancing. And I'm too damn old for those hours. I have met some of the folks who work in high-stress government jobs and they are all around 30 or under. I could not take that.

You so sweet! But Whome and others here know more than me. I am just going on intuition, supposition and, I hope, common sense.

In a way, we all are working for him already! As volunteer back-watchers here at DU. It's the only reason I go to GD these days-- when I do go, that is.
