Mail from John
:loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :loveya:

Dear XXXXX,

How many more times will Karl Rove make President Bush eat his words and shred his credibility before Karl Rove does the honorable thing and leaves the White House?

Yesterday the President furiously backpedaled from his promise to fire anyone involved in leaking the identity of a covert CIA agent to the press. Now that it's known that Rove and Vice President Cheney's Chief of Staff Lewis Libby were involved, the President has lowered the bar and now says he'll only fire someone who is convicted of a crime.

President Bush is setting a terrible standard of leadership in the White House by protecting insubordinate aides who refused to come forward when the President demanded to know who in his administration leaked Valerie Plame's identity -- and he's sending a disturbing message about our national security.

The President should not wait to find out whether Rove is convicted in the end for his leak. Either Rove lied to the President about this matter of national security, which means he should be fired immediately, or the President is not being straight with the American people about his own involvement in this case.

With all the dissembling coming out of the White House, it's clear that the only way the American people can get to the bottom of this is through full Congressional hearings. I will call for hearings this week -- and you can strengthen this call by adding your name to our petition today:

With both the House and Senate in Republican hands it will be difficult to force Congressional hearings on the Bush White House. Having as many statements as possible from people in every state will help my colleagues and me show that this is what America wants. According to a poll released yesterday by ABC News, 75% of Americans believe that Karl Rove should be fired if he leaked classified information.

More than 300,000 people have signed on so far -- help us double our numbers by forwarding this email to your friends asking them to sign:

Thank you,

John Kerry

Now maybe we can get the less than courageous Senators who didn't sign the DSM letter to sign for this one.

They go together. They all point to the same thing: * lied to get us into the Iraq War. The Rove leak proves it (he wanted Wilson punished for saying * lied in saying the IRaqis wanted yellow-cake from Niger.) DSM says the * goons were fixing the intel around the policy.

Sigh! I love strong, assertive, tall men who take good pool pics. :loveya:  :loveya:

"How many more times will Karl Rove make President Bush eat his words and shred his credibility ..."

"President Bush is setting a terrible standard of leadership..."

Compare and contrast.
Our elected President. The appointed pRez.

3. I think it's funny
that he used the word dissemble. Intentional snap or just normal vocabulary for the very eloquent Senator? Difficult to say, but it brought a smile.
Maybe just a little jab before the big KO?

4. Nice move
I like that one too. Especially since he obviously knows what the word both means and connotes.

Also, I wonder when the floor speech will be. It's going to awfully crowded there with speeches extolling the new nominee for the Supreme Court.

5. Alert: Scarborough - ugh
Shield your eyes:

Republicans are quickly lining up to support Mr. Rove, while Democrats are calling for his head. Massachusetts Senator John Kerry has called for Rove's resignation--a silly suggestion from a silly man.

First of all, did JK call for Rove to resign, or for W to fire him? Currently it's the latter, and I think that's what it always was.

It gets better. Later on Mr. Female-aide-found-dead-in-his-office said this:

But there is nothing funny about the Republican's treatment of the Rove affair.

Assuming Rove leaked a CIA agent's identity to Time Magazine, GOP leaders should be lining up to condemn the White House Wizard's actions.

Why? Because they would have shredded a Democratic administration for outing an undercover CIA agent during a time of war.

Imagine Bill Clinton's top political advisor leaking a CIA agent's identity because of the actions of the agent's spouse. Republicans, including yours truly, would have been demanding that official's resignation at once.

Now, note the title of the article is "DC double standards" and he is basically calling politicians and the media "hypocrites."

Uh, may want to look in the mirror, Joe. And SANITY-CHECK your friggin' columns! (Does he even read what he writes?)

So...

What's the best way to respond to this folks? It just seems silly to e-mail the ex-Congressman himself. But is this about as blatantly stupid as you can imagine? Or is he just calling himself "a silly man"?

6. Excellent post from John
Probably should of said that first, but had to get the other crap out of my system.

We should post this on dkos later (preferably when I am home from work and can troll-whack more vigorously).

mentioned the e-mail on his show tonight, and highlighted a part of it, but I can't remember which part it was. Showed a clip of him (no sound) at the press conference last week. Thanks Keith.
