Holy. Mother. Of. Gawd! Channel 5 'story' on Kerry tonight
I am not making this up. I swear to you, I am not making this up.

Channel 5 (WCVB) in Boston is doing a story tonight on whether or not Senator Kerry looks different lately. They had a teaser that I saw when I glanced up at the 6:00 PM news tonight:

Tonight at 11:00: Does John Kerry look better lately. (Two different shots on the TV, one looks like it was taken at the April 19th Bolton hearing, one was not. He did look good at that hearing, I must say.) Is it natural or Botox. (OMG! I don't friggin believe it.) Tune in at 11:00 and we'll get to the bottom of this.

http://www.thebostonchannel.com/index.html (Nothing yet. Story comes on at 11 (EST) (Sometimes WCVB sends stuff to: http://www.boston.com/news/politics/)

Let's see, the Karl Rove story exploded this week and Sen. Kerry made some strong comments. Very little coverage. He wrote in very strong terms about the plight of veterans and the lack of funding from the Admin. No coverage. He continues to press for more spending for home land security. Zippo, nothing. He starts looking good, all the female reporters start asking if they can do the remote interview, bang we got a story.

Cheesus, I can settle this. Wait until tomorrow or Sunday's Red Sox game. Kerry is friends with The Trio so he can get tickets. Train a camera, surreptitiously on the Senator. Wait for something to happen on the field and see if he reacts like everyone else in the park. Normal, he's just living right and having fun. If he doesn't, well, then do a story.

I'm actually kinda speechless over this one. Boston used to be renowned as a 'hard news' town. Gulp!

2. Wow, I'm glad everything in the world is under control
and they can waste their time on crap like this! Maybe when John took that extra couple of days off a few of weeks ago, he went in and had major reconstructive surgery - yeah, I'm quite sure that's it. Or maybe, he's had more time over the past 9 months to take care of himself better by eating right, exercising regularly and not being on the road 24/7. Hmmmmmm. which one do you think it could be?

News really has become Entertainment Tonight hasn't it?

5. The promo was hilarious
I was speechless. (No, really.) IT was so funny.

I think it's his natural inner goodness manifesting itself, karmalike, onto his outward appearance. Very Zen.

10. I will try and post later and tell you what I thought of the expose
My daughter has the computer tonight at ten. But I will be watching the 'handsomeness' mystery story at 11.

Why is Sen. Kerry so hot lately? (Well, hell, everyone wants to know that.)

14. Why so hot?
Hmmm...

Maybe, just maybe, we aren't seeing a continual bombardment of intentionally unflattering photos.

Maybe, just maybe, minus the constant barrage of negativism, people are seeing what was there all along.

I actually have no idea, because I didn't pay the slightest attention before Nov. 3rd. Kerry always looked just fine to me, for a 60-year old politician. But then, any discussion of what the potential next president of the U.S. looks like only increased my derision and disgust for the media.

It seems like the media wants to make sure my opinion of them doesn't rise from the depths anytime soon.

4. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. he can't win.
It appears they are trying to play up his vanity. Please let me know how this goes. I'm hoping it just comes down to a healthy lifestyle thanks to Teressa and a few extra pounds. In a way, it is nice that they noticed he is looking good.

8. also--
The job (Senator) has been going pretty well this session. A stream of little (and not so little) victories for the Dems. Social Security is far off the table, Bolton is an embarrassment to the Repubs, the Schiavo case also gave them a few scars that will be remembered. Kerry, Reid, Durbin, Schumer, Kennedy and the others can rightfully feel proud of their hard work on the front lines! That's got to make a person feel good and it will show in their looks.

But if it's Botox, hey-- it's a free country, he's got the money, and it will probably help his political future. I suspect the Senator has had far more than his fair share of sun exposure in his 61 years, given his addiction to water sports, skiing, and the like. They didn't invent sunblock until what, the late 1970s? So what could he have done to prevent sun damage?

13. NOT botox
Edited on Fri Jul-15-05 08:47 PM by TayTay
I have seen Sen. Kerry on the floor of the Senate. I saw a certain, "What" moment during a speech. I saw a face in full normal contraction.

End of story.

16. that's true--I forgot about that part
I've heard that botox patients can't really show emotions on their faces--and that is certainly not JK.

I read somewhere that babies with "botox" moms don't get the usual signals from their mothers and don't develop normal emotional bonds!

19. Maybe it's from not being on the campaign trail 24x7?
I'm sure that campaigning for President for 2 straight years can take a lot out of a person. Lack of sleep, too much junk food on the road, kissing too many sniffly babies - all that can really wear on a guy. Now he's had a few months of "normal" life (whatever that means for a busy Senator), and he's looking refreshed and vigorous.

And if he's had a little work done, so what? It's his right.

6. I look about 30 yo in the mornings and look like 40 by evening.
That's what happens when you get older.

He also looks different when he has makeup on for TV cameras and when someone grabs his pic any other day.

7. It is kind of stupid, isn't it?
What is with all the weird media attention all of the sudden, anyway? Clinton disses him the other day with a stupid and completely baseless statement re losing over the security issue, Jon Stewart doesn't defend him to that ahole he had on the other night, Leno did a Kerry-botox bit two nights ago, and now this. Lots of attention this week over lies and bullshit, and no coverage of how the Senator is serving the people of Massachusetts.

I guess since fake news is all anyone is dishing out these days, this is to be expected. Maybe it's not all bad. "Kerry Looking Great". OK, yes. Better than the other way around.

I realize how silly the story is, but he does look damn good. I, for one, would love to know what he's doing. Whatever his secret, I wish he would include it in the next e-mail, 'cause the Senator is looking extra special lately.

BTW, REd Sox ahead 17-1 over the Yanks. (Smirk, smirk, smirk)

This poll means that 67% of MA is smart enough not to vote for a guy who hates them. Thank goodenss rampant stupidity hasn't overtaken the Bay State.

And Sen. Kerry is looking hot. Good living and that crisp Nantucket air, if you ask me.

21. Well, that was lame
It mostly consisted of Jay Leno doing a bit suggesting that Kerry has had some work done, with side-by-side pictures from 2003 and now. Kerry's office say he's had no work done.

23. Wouldn't you know
it had something to do with Jay Leno?? That was really pathetic. Possibly the stupidest non-story ever. "Word from Kerry's staff..."

On the other hand, they appear to believe that a story about Kerry will bring in the viewers. I don't know about your viewing habits, Rox, but it did bring me in. And also remind me why it is I never watch the 11:00 news!

Wasn't that also around the time that both of his parents passed away? Gee, no wonder the guy might not have looked his best during that year. I never watch FOX "News" but this seems like a story that they might do.

27. Feb 2003, cancer surgery
It was the lighting. (And I think he put on a couple of pounds. Skin is less elastic as you get older. When he lost weight on the campaign trail, well, that's nature for ya. Gaining a few pounds helped.)

That allged after pic though, was pretty nice. Really nice. He ought to hire whoever did the lighting for that. And, to be fair, Whome and I had a conversation about how good JK was looking back in April. (That particular crowded Senate Hearing room had great lighting. How odd.) Even a freeper commented that Kerry was looking mighty fine. The lighting on the Senate floor and the placement of the camera is simply not that kind.

That was interesting, but lame.

30. I remember Kerry's interview with Essence Magazine
Before the election The interviewer (Z.Z. Packer) saw him before the surgery and commented in the story how good/well he looked after. She also talked about how he was easy to point out cause he was 6 feet four inches tool. But overall, it was a nice interview (Just like the BET one) compared to the * interview.
