Does anyone plan to watch Shrub on Tuesday night?
I just don't know that I have the stomach for it. I can usually only handle about 10 seconds of the man (unless it's a clip on The Daily Show). Can't imagine what he has to say except freedom is on the march, September 11th, Social Security needs to be eliminated for the sake of the children, Democrats are obstructionists, September 11th, John Bolton - up or down, yada, yada. It will be intersting to see in which direction his polls head after Tuesday.

Sorry for rambling. It's been pouring down rain here all day and my brain's a little soggy.

2. I know what you mean.
I don't think I've ever made it all the way through one of his speeches, State of the Unions or press conference. I'd say it would be fun to watch for the comedic value, but it just ain't funny any more. Does anyone except for brain dead Bushbots really believe a word the man says anymore?

3. I think I can preview his speech.
My Fellow Americans:

We need to stay the course. If we don't stay the course and I lose this war, then my Dad will be seriously mad at me. I kept telling him and telling him that he should have marched into Baghdad after the Kuwaiti War and kicked Saddam's ass. He told me that it couldn't be done because we would then be stuck in a quagmire that we couldn't get out of without dire consequences. I am gonna catch hell from Mr. Know-it-all in Kennebunkport. This just can't happen. So we have to stay the course. (Come on, have a heart America, my Dad can be brutal and my Mom is even worse. I can't go home with this stink of failure all over me. My Mom will beat me to a pulp.)

See these fine men and women behind me. They want us to stay the course. They love me. They think I'm smart and competent and a fierce Commander-in-Chief. I even cut their benefits, extended their enlistments and made them go to Iraq on multiple deployments. And look, they still stand there and applaud on cue. (Shhh, Rummy, stop distributing that memo that says that the first one who jeers gets a all expense paid trip to Ramadi. Bad form)

So, in sum: Stay the Course, Ahm, Saddam was a bad man and I have his guns and he was ugly. Our troops love their treatment and look forward to coming home and getting horrible treatment from the Veterans Admin. (Hey, once they aren't fighting for me in Iraq, what good are they anyway? They turn into freeloaders whose needs just put more tax cuts for my rich friends in jeopardy. Hey kids, try not to get injured or blown up, it's expensive.)

I think that about sums it up.

5. Patting the "air dog" - that's too funny!
I guess that could be part of a drinking game for any of us who are inclined to watch and drink. (How else would you be able to watch?)

I'm sure he'll smile a lot when talking about all of the death and destruction in Iraq like he did at his press conference the other day. Did anyone see that on TDS? It was at the press conference where he called the president of Luxembourg (who was standing beside him) a "real piece of work". God what a moran.

But will probably get a pretty good feed on it from DU watchers.

OT
By the way there is a post in GD asking if Kerry ever offered to talk with the insurgents.

Did Kerry ever propose negotiating with the insurgency?

I know he was savaged by the GOP for proposing we negotiate with our allies, but did he ever propose doing what we are now doing under Bush?

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&s.

But also there is a post by no other than a moderator jabbing at Kerry.

No, so far he's circulating a letter in the Senate.

The letter, if submitted, will ask a committee to speed up it's investigation into the invasion of Iraq, and requests that it looks into the DSM.

Does this sound familiar?

I did respond.

9. here's my preview:
Chimp comes out wearing a Napoleon outfit with his hand stuck halfway inside his jacket:

"Hey you people, listen up. I'm dyin' in the polls. You people just don't understan' that I'm right and you're wrong! And my little pet, Rove-rat is right, too! Don't mess with us, or I'll sic him on you again!
Listen, I OWN all of you people! I paid the corporations for the money to buy you with, now let me rule! I've got a man-date and that means I'm king, so get outta my way! You media people and you people in Congress better just shut up and march to my tune, or else! We have ways to make you sorry you didn't. As for you others, be patriotic 'mericuns and get out there and shop!!"

10. "Chimp come out wearing a Napoleon outfit..."
When I first read that, I read Neapolitan, you know like the ice cream that's chocolate/strawberry/vanilla. I was picturing Shrub wearing a brown, pink and white outfit! (With a strategically placed sock - of course.) Now THAT would be worth watching!

11. I'll watch unless I'm tied up at the time
It is useful to know what they are saying.

You never know--things might change and we'll have to be ready to respond. For example, Bush might come up with yet a totally different reason for why we are in Iraq.

12. What will be really sick
if after more lies on Tuesday, his poll numbers inch back up. :={ People will want to believe anything. Just mention" we went to war because we were attacked" at least this will be said 3 times, and "they can not shake our will" this will be said at least 5 times.. Wana bet?

Organize now!!!

14. I think your numbers may be low
Remember, he said himself that in order for the propaganda to work you have to mention something over and over again. I think he'll mention 9/11 (or some variation) at least 6 or 7 times.

15. I would have to be tied up at the time.
I think we should start a dirty, ah, suggestive picture thread just at the moment of the press conference. That would make me feel much better. If I'm gonna have to think about getting screwed by these Rethug bastards again, well, Ahm, I could alleviate the the pain by diverting the visuals to a better place.

Yeah, that would be better.

16. I'll watch
...because I like to see the bad guys on the run. Watching Rummy get sliced and diced by Kennedy, Byrd and the rest of the Armed Services Committee was fun. He was so obviously on the ropes. Kennedy continued to dog Rummy's tracks this morning, calling for his resignation again on Wolf Blitzer. It's getting very interesting. We know * will B.S. his way through it, but still.

The new Dem message seems to be "they've royally screwed up this war!", and I like it. :)

13. I've got better things to do --- like floss my dogs teeth . . .
and I don't even have a dog. I better go save one from the pound.

I'm sure many will inform us what Mr. Cuckoo-bananas says. I can hardly wait . . .

Just don't let him come near that big red button in a last ditch effort to silence everyone. :nuke:

Now that is scary.

17. A question
Klimmer, I've seen that term Cuckoo-bananas as referenced to our brilliant president in the main forums. That's the perfect name for him. I think it's hilarious. Didn't it come from the Simpsons?

A question, I keep on seeing the term "kick it or kick" under certain posts in the main forum, I'm not up with the message board lingo. Could someone inform me of what that means?

I will watch the Bush press conference, only because I like to have a good laugh and make fun of him afterwards.

It's someone trying to bump the thread back up to the top of the list, so more people will see it and post a response.
