2. Wow! That's a hell of a promise
Edited on Wed May-25-05 09:19 PM by TayTay
John Kerry knows that true change originates in America’s states and neighborhoods. KAP will help recruit 100,000 volunteers this year to win the governor’s races in Virginia and New Jersey and other key races across the country. In 2006, KAP’s volunteer recruitment will grow nationwide on behalf of important gubernatorial, congressional, mayoral, legislative and other races.

Wow! 100,000 volunteers for the grassroots in 2005. That's very ambitious. I love it. Wow! If he can pull that off, then everyone else in the potential field for 2008 will sit up and take notice. Again, wow!

3. Check this out
"make it clear that we’re not willing to lay down and let the Republicans put their narrow, stubborn, Washington agenda ahead of our families, ahead of our Constitution, and ahead of American values."

:woohoo:

7. Dems need grassroots!
Okay, I live in pretty red country here, but today was ridiculous. We went to this strawberry festival, and here in Virginia, we have our governor's race this year, so the politicians and signs for the politicians were out in force. They were handing out stickers, marching in the parade, even participating in a pie eating contest. I saw one person with a Kaine sticker, but other than that, I saw NO Democrats. ALL the Republicans were there, and only minimum, near absent Dems. I'm sorry, but even in Red Country, the Democrats need to make their presence known. Kerry did poorly here, BUT he did get 40% of the vote, which means if he had grabbed some more votes here along with more from northern Virginia (which is naturally blue), he could have been more in the running here. Anyway, I intend to contact the Democratic party here and get involved, although I'm not sure what I can offer them. I mean, I have relatives here from Europe, and what are we showing them? Total one party control -- that, in my book, is NOT democracy. It may as well be Mubarak's Egypt, when the Dems are a no-show at such a popular festival. We need to compete everywhere, start changing hearts and minds, little by little, year by year . . . sigh.

8. I agree
And I'm a little jealous. We can't have strawberry festivals until mid-late June. (Heck, we just finished a spat of weather where it didn't get above 50 for days on end.)

Sen. Kerry and Gov. Dean have made all the right noises about running 50 state campaigns year round. I know this is a massive effort to organize and fund, but you are right. The effort has to go in now. Especially now as people are starting to get the message that Rethugs in control mean loss of Social Security, lies about the WMDs and the war, and so much more.

By all means, volunteer. At the very least, you will meet interesting people and have some fun. I think VA can go blue, but it needs more Dem help.
