In a perverse way I have more respect for idiots like George Allen than I do for people like Lugar. Exactly because the Allens of this world ARE idiots and don't understand what they're saying. (or doing)

Lugar is chair of the foreign relations committee. He's been around and he's no dummy when it comes to the UN and the damage Bush has done to our standing in the world. He KNOWS that Bolton is a disastrous pick for UN ambassador. Yet he does the wrong thing for partisan reasons.
