John Kerry Welcomes Hillary to Boston

Winding down a week on the road stumping for his Kids First Act, which started with an endorsement of mayoral candidate Antonio Villaraigosa, John Kerry was back in Boston today for two events with Hillary Clinton.

John Kerry and Hillary Clinton met with members of New York and Boston YouthBuild, at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston today.



YouthBuild is a program that allows young people to get their GED while they learn vocational skills. John Kerry was an early supporter of the YouthBuild program. He wrote legislation which authorized federal funding for the program and led a bipartisan coalition in support of the funding.

After the YouthBuild event, John Kerry hosted a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton’s Senate re-election campaign, also at the Park plaza Hotel. Former state and national DNC chairman Steve Grossman, Teresa Heinz Kerry, and longtime Kerry supporter Alan Solomont were among those attending the fundraiser.

Kerry has said many times in recent weeks that the focus is on the 2006 political campaigns not 2008. Clearly, regardless of the MSM hype on 2008, John Kerry was more than happy this evening to lend a hand in getting Hillary re-elected. It’s fantastic to see this show of unity from Kerry and Clinton while the MSM would like us to believe otherwise.

2. It is. The Dems need to focus on 2006 and on building structure.

It is too early to do anything overt about 2008. Perhaps, said another way, the way to do something about 2008 is to do what you can in this Congress to advance a Democratic agenda. Sen. Kerry said Dems need to play some offense and get some Dem issues and values out there. Then we have to work on putting in place a great Democratic structure that runs 24/7. (We also have to take on the Right Wing Noise Machine and that cause is chugging along. There are progressive talk stations where no existed two years ago. There is the internet which can have a rippling effect on the Dem message.)

What, We The People, have to do (as apart from the elected officials) is defend our Democracy from the Rethug Visigoths. We The People alerted on the NC Baptist Church expulsion of Dems and that has hit the media. We The People have to spearhead the drive for cleaner elections because those faultily run election are benefitting the party in power. We The People have to push Congress to hold the * Admin's feet to the fire for lying us into the Iraq War and Abu Ghraib and all that awfulness.

Look at the polls. The Rethugs have revealed their ugly inner faces at long last and the public is reacting. We need to keep talking to everyone we can about how those are indeed their real faces, they are ugly and frightening and a threat to the Republic. That's our part. Then talk up the 2006 elections as a way of affecting massive change.
