My daughter's Kerry pictures from the L.A. event last Saturday
My daughter Julie sent me the pictures because she doesn't know how to post them here. She went with friends that we met on DU and had her "Going Upriver" DVD signed. She told me that John Kerry was very nice to her and that she got a nice, warm smile from him when she thanked him for the autograph. It was a great experience for her.

12. They went there early
As it wasn't such a big event - about 450 people - they were lucky to get pretty close to Kerry.

3. Beautiful Pictures
It's really great that she had the opportunity to see the better side of our politics. I hope people elsewhere know that nearly half of us (if the counts were right) voted for the values of Kerry. I will never understand the fear that made so many vote for Bush.

I'm glad that she had such a great experience.

11. My daughter has a great time in the USA
Don't worry, Julie's whole school year in California has been a very positive experience so far. From her 17 class-mates only one is a Republican, all others are Democrats. All her teachers are liberals and they do a lot of activist stuff with her school. For example, they went to a Tim Robbins play at the Actors Gang Theater which exposed the abuse of power in the Bush administration. They had people from different liberal groups coming to their school discussing politics. And her American History teacher was amazed when Julie asked her if she could center the Vietnam oral presentation on John Kerry.

13. Glad to hear that she is having a great time
That sounds a lot like my daughters' high school. It is so cool that she actually got Kerry's autograph and was able to hear him speak - Hopefully some day in the future, she'll be able to say that she actually met President Kerry before he became President.

I'm sure her teacher and classmates will be impressed by her Vietnam presentation.

4. Me Too!
These are great! I second the good wishers for her and the hope that she takes back a sense of Americans as more than just the Rethugs and the idiots who are so hell-bent on wrecking the country.

6. Does anyone else think JK looks better than before?
Maybe it's just the coloring on my monitor, but JK looks a lot more healthy and energized since the end of the campaign. Obviously campaigning as hard as Kerry did would wear down anybody (just look at Bob Dole's 96-hour sleepless marathon, lol). I just think he looks a lot more lively these days when I see him in photos.

8. Absolutely.
We've actually discussed it a bit. You know how we get.

I think it's a combination of rest, the thrill of combat, and just enough weight gain to fill out his face a bit and make it look younger and less lined.

9. Yup. I, ah, noticed this
On both sides of my brain. My serious side noticed and said, "Oh that's nice. What's he's been doing must agree with him. Some of those awful worry lines have filled in. That's so nice. Why, he looks like he's put 2004 behind him and is ready to gear up for the next battle. How great. That's very inspiring."

My LLL side said: :P
Then: :9
Then:
And I wound up with: :loveya: :P :loveya:  (But maybe not in that order.)

I concur, and so do I.

And he was really thin. Too thin. I hear that on the campaign trail, you have time to sleep, or eat, but not both!
I agree, he's looking a lot better now. ;)

18. About A Thousand Times Better Than My Pictures!
Edited on Wed May-04-05 10:51 PM by K8-EEE
These press guys kept strolling around with a step ladder, setting it up right in front of Julie and standing on it to take pictures, blocking her view. One of the guys felt bad and offered her a chance to get on the ladder. So her pictures are Kerry and not A Little Kerry From Under Some Guy's Elbow like mine!!

However I DO have a couple of very cute pictures of the lovely Julie with my daughter Hayley and will send them to her mom europegirl4jfk -- I loved seeing all the young people show up for this rally, it gives me such a feeling of hope. AND they totally outclassed the creepy hecklers who were stalking the event and finally kind of gave up. JK is such a class act! And pretty cute too if I do say so!
