1. College Repubs for Hillary?
Edited on Wed May-04-05 07:16 AM by TayTay
From the article mentioned in the original post to this thread:

Outside the union hall, a small group of University of Saint Thomas students gathered on behalf of the College Republicans organization. The flip-flop twins, brothers Nick and Tim Erickson, appeared wearing giant thong sandals labelled "flip" and "flop." It's an act they debuted last summer at the Minnesota State Fair.

They were advocating that John Kerry take himself out of the running in 2008 and clear the path for Senator Hillary Clinton of New York to bear the Democrat standard.

College Republican Tyler Sunderman passed out "Minnesotans for Hillary" flyers and explained, "We're out here trying to point out the feud that's going on in the Democratic party right now between the elements that support John Kerry and the elements that support Hillary Clinton."

There is no real 'fued.' There is jockeying for position, supporters and frames. It's too friggin early for anything like a 'feud.' College Republicans want the Dems to splinter into little groups so that they can be picked off by the Rethugs. This is so stupidly obvious it's ridiculous. Does anyone in Minn buy this?

2. This is plain bizarre
Edited on Wed May-04-05 07:35 AM by karynnj
If they didn't identify themselves as college Republicans, it would be a stupid way too early dirty trick. But by identifying themselves as who they are, it's not even clear what their purpose really is. REPUBLICANS saying vote Hillary almost can be perceived as them really being against Hillary. But they're repeating a 2004 RW slander against Kerry. The normal response of any Democrats should be to simply ask why the Republicans are being so divisive 3 1/2 years out - What's their problem?

3. You know,
it strikes me reading this, as I ask myself for the gazillionth time what makes a college student identify with republicans, that one of the truly obscene aspects to the current interparty warfare is the rooting for sides as if this was a football game.

I know many intelligent people have gone to great lengths to explain this phenomenon, but it just floors me that repugs get off on vilifying countrymen who disagree with them politically.

If you're feeling strong of stomach, check out this charming (albeit moronic) item: http://www.webcommentary.com/asp/ShowArticle.asp?id=zieves&date=050503. And weep.

6. Boy is that guy ever an idiot

Apparently he thinks doing your job as Senator means agreeing with whatever the Rethug bastards are doing to destroy America. What a joke.

This type of thing is going to get more intense and much nastier. Stay tuned and check in here frequently for some re-enforcement and support. Very interesting. Remember, the more negative press means the more Kerry is getting to them and they want to take him out now and not let him get a power-base going. (Or keep one that is already there from growing further.) Sometimes a negative proves a positive.

7. I just loved the part
where he said, "John, it’s time to concentrate your efforts on the job you were elected to do (that of the junior Senator from Massachusetts)"

That's where the cat got out of the bag about how stupid he is. One side effect of Kerry running for prez that I hadn't counted on was people who don't even live in Massachusetts feeling like they have some kind of say over what Kerry does and doesn't do. He's ours, asshole. Get stuffed.

8. Ooooh, you go girl
Nothing like pissed off Massholes in the morning! Love it!

I agree, btw. This moronic blowhard can (say it with me now) bite me. I think Kerry is doing a great job. I think he has been wonderful in this first 4 months of the 109th (Weasel) Congress and has been nice and thorny. (Ahm, old reference: JK is a thorn in Bush's side according to one press report Whome and I read that I didn't save and can't reference back to at the moment. We both liked the idea of thorny John.)

Voted against Condiliar and Torture Boy. (Be still my beating lib heart.) Voted against the Screw the Middle-Class Bankruptcy Bill and 'STFU' Lawsuit Denial bill. (Oh, baby, is it getting hot in here or is it just me. Loved this.) He has been a real tiger in going after Bolton the Bastard in committee and (and, he looks really good now for some reason. Really, really good. Hey, I'm human, cut me some slack here.) Where was I? Or yeah, and he is going across the country for the benefit of America's kids who have no insurance and trying to make a dire and embarrassing situation better. (Ah, okay, it's political love. Flat out and true and for life.) Oh there is so much more. I am thrilled. And I gave him money.

Sigh! Ah, spring.

That was bracing!!!

I'm in political love too :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: He's my president-for-life.

Can't you just picture him reading this stuff (not what we're saying - I mean the stuff in The Hill) and chuckling to himself? Oh, wait - I forgot - he has no sense of humor!

I'll say it right along with you - BITE ME.

4. Those yellow things were sandals?
LOL. I thought they were poorly done elephant faces.

There were six or seven. I saw some Hilary signs and immediately knew they were some Repugs.

They have to do better than that to drive a wedge between Minnesota Democrats!

5. College Repugs are without brains
Edited on Wed May-04-05 10:04 AM by TayTay
College Rethugs were the ones caught on tape chanting, "Hey Hey, Ho Ho, Social Security has got to go" at a Santorum Lie-a-Thon Town Meeting back in March.

No friggin brains to speak of at all. None. That is about the dumbest chant ever. Some smart Dems have it on tape. Santorum was miffed.
