Perhaps the truest words spoken yet on DU about the election. Way to go, Politica Sista!

7. What a foul thread.
Kudos to anyone who could stomach it and take those people on. I noticed several people from this group in there. :yourock:

Amazing how haters will leap on any post that expresses support for him in the future. That one had everything -- plenty of "f*ck Kerry" (boy if I posted my true response to THAT, I'd get thrown out of DU immediately for inappropriate posting ;)), several "he let us down," "he sucked," etc. Why, WHY, do they have to begin the primary wars right now? Why do they have to pick on Kerry, at that? Honestly. I don't see any of us doing that crap to pro-Feingold, pro-Clark, pro-whoever-the-hell threads.

8. Well, there are pobably reasons
Reason 1) Kerry let me down because he didn't win. You can't argue with this because it is emotional. It is also childish. It sounds like a teenager who has just gone through a first breakup. (And I'm never, ever going to fall in love again, cuz it hurts too much.) If you trash the one who disappointed you, then you get off the hook emotionally. They made me do it, they are responsbile and I am going to become cynical in order to protect myself from all hurt in the future. Most people grow out of this, as it is self-limiting and self-defeating.

Reason 2) Kerry is still a powerful Senator and a voice for a significant portion of the Democratic Party. If someone is thinking of supporting someone else, then it is a threat to allow the Senator to get good press. That would only make him more powerful and more attractive as an option to Dems. You can't really argue this, since the argument itself is the proof. Kerry is only doing XYZ because it helps his plan to run again. This can be neither proved nor disproved since it is a specious argument to begin with. The best (and most satisfying) way to deal with this is just to point out that everything Kerry has done in the 109th (Weasel) Congress is consistent with long held Democratic principles. Is their argument with the principles or with the one who is proposing them? (This begs the question: Would the proposals and actions Sen. Kerry has taken be more acceptible if someone else proposed them? Why? Isn't that just plain old prejudice?)

I'm actually going to write a paper on cable news and its uselessness in terms of journalistic information.

4. Read RFK, Jr in the May Issue of Vanity Fair
The media is so not in our control... it's very scarey and disconcerting and he is on the money on this. Must read.
