8. there is a whole bleacher section you are not even seeing in these photos
Definitely a big crowd. My parents think there were 1500-2000 people there.

sigh--looks almost like he is back to square on, like when he began the last campaign. Well, it only looks like it--as a national figure, his recognition has skyrocketed.

10. yeah
someone who was aloof and boring, wooden, out of touch. Totally lacking any charisma. :( I guess women scream for guys like this?

That was the worst they could say, given his sterling character, so they made those traits out to be the worst thing a person could be.

11. and yeah, there were some screaming girls
Umm, me for one. The college aged girl behind me for another!

The man was funny, witty, relaxed, smart . . . shall I go on?

12. sounds like the man I voted for!
Did he react to the screams? Did he wave or anything? I suppose that's another thing that happens all the time.

None of those traits would matter without the last one: smart. That's the one I put my trust in and believe in.

13. He totally loved the standing ovations, the screams
He smiled and waved all over the place. Lots of JK smiles - the ones that melt our hearts. The crowd LOVED him!!!

I love these pictures! John always looks so relaxed, so loose, and warm. I never got those who called him aloof, wooden, etc. They just don't get him. WE DO:loveya:

17. Me too--it's like he's a relative of mine
I'm so familiar with that face and posture. I feel like I've completed a college course on the "Study of Kerry". Heehee, well, one must have one's hobbies!

My analytical side occasionally asks "why?". Answer: because he represents HOPE for a better future.

For all the haters who said Kerry didn't reach out or connect with minorites. These remind me of the campaign pics. He looked like he was enjoying himself. :)

22. Wonderful pics muse!
It sounds like it was a great day, very relaxed. The last post I saw said that the event was sold-out (well, it was free, but the tix all went.)

How odd, I think the Senator is more likely to go without his coat when he is away from his home state. His speech and manner are more informal away than they are at home. Hmmm, wonder what that means. Oh well, probably means it's Monday and I'm overseeing something.

Anyway, I love these pics. It's absolutely amazing to think that Kerry drew 1500-2000 Texans on a Saturday monring in mid-April to come out and talk about the future of the country. This is phenomenal. I love it. And your pics, ooooh, they are warm, intimate and sweet. You rule!

:yourock: for muse!

25. He came out with his coat on and took it right off
and he got right down to the business of having his adoring fans cheer him on as he talked to them.

There are some other good pics of him at this event from another angle on a thread at the Texas DU group.

27. Wow! I read the Texas forum posts and Wow!
They were only expecting 200-300 and wound up with many times that amount. Geez! That's great! This is awesome.

When my Dad served in the Navy many long years ago, he did his basic training with all guys from Texas. My Dad was part of the invasion force on Tarawa during WWII, and he fought for country and principle, but also in defense of the Austin-Boston guys that he had trained with and grew to love. He always taught me to be especially kind to Texans, they had saved his life.

It's just nice to know that there is still kind feeling possible between the states, even after all the wierd hate speech that can fill the air at times. I luvs the brave Texas Dems. You guys Rock!

24. AP News Story on Austin Town Hall
This was from the Boston Globe (which is, apparently, trying to keep track of the Senator for unknown reasons.)

http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2005/04/17/kerry_stumps_for_kids_health_care/

This sounds like it was a great time. And Texas math-a-phobes can't seem to generate accurate crowd counts anymore than Boston ones can. Sigh!
