Again it's striking how many of the concerns JK speaks of then still resonate today, 24 years later..

His sense of humor has always been so sharp and witty! He cracks a few jokes in the midst of such serious conversation. Love it. :)

3. Nice - and it is cool to hear a black haired 45 year old Kerry saying "we need 60 votes"

He was great here - and as you say many of the same concerns. (Especially on the environment - and the problems of toxins in fish. ) and transportation.

What was almost tragically sad was hearing Kerry speak of the things that the antiwar Vietnam veterans started to do to help the veterans get the help they need. If there is anyone who deserved the avid support of those vets - it was Kerry. He did have "his" vets - both the ones who served with him and MA vets who made huge sacrifices to go to Iowa and elsewhere for him, but the Republican bastards turned his heroic actions against him with some portion of that population.

(It is interesting that his call for activism - which I naively thought was new in 2005 when it provided the hope and call to become involved that was so needed them was new. But parts of it were straight out of this speech. (I wonder if he intentionally changed the main example from vets to the environment (both of which he was personally involved with) because of the pain that had to still exist from 2004.

And they make it all the more frustrating that he is still perceived by some to be a "flip flopper"..ugh! :banghead: His record and stances are actually remarkably consistent, especially for someone who has been in office as long as he has!

I truly believe that if more people had seen these sides of him (rather than the one-dimensional characture the right wing media so unfairly made of him), the outcome of '04 would've been different. *sigh* But I am glad that he is getting more credit for all he does now..and that we have these wonderful archives..which are constantly being added to because the good Senator never stops! :)
