The inepty of the political media in MA (ep. 25)
Edited on Mon Mar-21-11 08:49 PM by Mass
Today, the award goes to Ed Harding (Channel 5) and Glenn Johnson (I hope the Globe is happy of their acquisition, who has also an article about Brown's jokes at the St Patrick's roast yesterday)

Not Setti For Primetime?

If Newton, Massachusetts Mayor Setti Warren (D) makes it to the Senate someday, things might be slightly awkward between him and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

Warren is currently mulling a 2012 bid for Sen. Scott Brown's (R) seat. Appearing over the weekend on WCVB-TV's "On the Record," Warren had to answer the question "Which former mayor of San Francisco was assassinated with gay rights activist Harvey Milk?"

"Dianne Feinstein," Warren answered. Co-host Ed Harding, laughing, informed Warren that the correct answer was George Moscone. Warren, apologizing, quickly said Feinstein became mayor after the assassination attempt, and Harding interjected that she then became a senator.

As the Boston Globe's Glen Johnson points out, Feinstein has served with Warren's former boss, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) -- Warren worked as Kerry's deputy state director.

Johnson also reports that the Massachusetts Republican Party called Warren "not ready for primetime" after the interview aired. Warren is reportedly still determining whether to challenge Brown, though he has moved toward staffing up for a potential campaign.

Weird answer, I would agree, but frankly, the only answer that would have been valid was: Is 1978 in SF something relevant for a senatorial election in MA in 2012? really? Frankly, Ed Harding is an idiot, that is all I have to say (he was the guy who insisted that Kerry was eclipsed by Brown in a previous election.

1. Dumb, irrelevant, but I bet it is not good
Yet I bet if Brown were given a similar trivia question - which that it - he would likely not do better. (As to Feinstein serving with Kerry, wasn't Setti a STATE person, not a DC person for Kerry? (It is weird as all of us know who Feinstein is. (I suspect that it was a case of not wanting to say that he didn't know.

As to Brown's jokes "lame" is the best descriptor - they have all been done and are not really funny. (Not to mention having two JK jokes when JK was not there - because he was working - is not the same as funny self deprecating jokes. In reality the live shot, camera ready, egotistical, Senator is not Kerry.
