The Kerry Chronicle!
I bet most of us got this in our e-mail inbox. I haven't yet found a way to reproduce it as an image, but it looks like a brand-new newsletter from the Senate Office. New to me, anyway! I think it's spectacular.

I just called the office to ask whether it's available online so we can share it via social media, etc. They said they'd get back to me.

Meanwhile, I can begin to describe it and others can chime in.

It's got a Message from John Kerry:

Dear Luftmensch,

The start of a new year is always a good time to evaluate our priorities and start thinking about all the things we want to get done in the coming year. For starters, we've got to refocus our energy on creating jobs and making the types of investments that will keep America competitive across the globe. As the recent tragedy in Arizona sadly underscored, Congress needs to find a way to come together and confront these challenges without acrimony or divisive arguments, but with honest debate and discussion about how to move our nation forward.

I know we still have a long way to go before we get our economy back on solid ground, but what I've seen in Massachusetts has me convinced we're moving in the right direction. Economic recovery funds have saved or created more than 13,000 jobs here. I've met small business owners who are ready to expand and create even more jobs and I'm going to keep up the fight to help them do just that. In the meantime, if there's anything I can do to assist you and your family please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you.

John

Then it's got articles (with pictures, yay!) having to do with constituent services, recent JK legislation and initiatives, a Foreign Relations Update, and photos of recent Kerry visits to MA communities and businesses. There's even a link to video of the CAP speech on breaking partisan gridlock!

Really a great step forward in my opinion and I hope they get a lot of great feedback and keep it going at this level of excellence.

1. They did a really nice job on this

There were somethings that we did not have here on DU JK! I liked the way it was formatted and liked the emphasis on the little things that he has done for MA, while including the things that make him an important National statesman and leader.

I was actually surprised to get it - when I checked after your post, as I thought it could be limited to MA. Fortunately it isn't. I hope that he will be able to get this to a large number of MA people - enough to end the idiotic RW libels (ie he has never written a bill that passed and he is never in MA). It is great that he is doing this far before he is up for office.

2. This is what we've been saying for so long
Put out a newsletter, monthly/quarterly editorial in the globe, what have you. But do something to tout your accomplishments so your constituents actually are aware of them. Finally :)
Although I didn't get the email. (yet) :(

3. I have not received it yet, but I am happy to hear about it.

Hopefully, they will publish it regularly, even if it is only by quarter. This would be great news.

7. It's a nice newsletter BUT .....
Are they going to be consistent about it? Remember the John Kerry podcast? Yeah, all four of them. It's still in the iTunes store btw. :)

I mean I'm not trying to rain on the Senator's parade, but I'll wait to celebrate this newsletter if it comes out consistently -- whatever it may be -- monthly, quarterly, whatever. But stick to it. For 4 years. With no gaps. Then I'll be impressed.

8. Agreed
But maybe if they get a lot of good feedback from us and others, they'll be more encouraged to continue.

9. I agree
I looked at his Senate site and there looks like a link where you can sign up for an email newsletter, which I assume is this. (There's no mention on Johnkerry.com)

I hope that someone on his staff is very committed to this. He does a huge amount of work and it would be nice if the people who gave him his Senate seat knew it.

11. Sounds good
Didn't get this one, though hope he can get the PR, constituent services straightened out. Though can't say much because our Sens don't care, but they easily get re-elected. :hide:
