He must be giving some kind of speech at Netroots Nation. These are two tweets I found:

cbellantoni Van Jones: John Kerry is a hero who has been mistreated by his own party since the '04 election. #nn10

Van Jones at #nn10 on #climate: Kerry is a hero both for war service and for telling truth about it on his return. It's not over.

Netroots Nation posts speeches eventually, so I hope to see this entire speech.

TPM write up of speech although it doesn't mention the above quotes:

1. video is up
See http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/8459363

There's a (videocast) intro by Howard Dean in beginning. Van Jones starts at 4:19.
Haven't listened to it yet, but this should give the whole thing.

3. his comments very relevant to recent threads--a lot of good stuff
about 10-11 minutes into tape .on diff between despair vs hope vs change
If you're 15 pounds overweight, and you (end up eating another doughnut), that's despair.
If you're munching the doughnut, and you see a fitness magazine, and you think "I could look like that", that's hope.
If you go to gym and actually lost 15 pounds, that's change. That's harder, that's up and down. .

12 minutes in. .
in 2008, thought we got to finish line, but just got to starting line

question is not how can these people (Repubs) be so ugly? but "how can we be more beautiful?"
13 minutes in
we don't want to win the food fight, we want to end the food fight

13:45/14:00
put America back to work and pull America back together

15:45
Limitation is not in our pocketbook; limitation is in our hearts

16:25. . starts on energy issues. .we're all responsible

more to come (I haven't finished watching this) . but this should give flavor of beginning

17:15
America's futures is not down "those holes"(oil rigs)
18:50
respect American workers

2. OMG!
I haven't even gotten to the JK part (and thanks for link to video, MBS!) and I'm already cheering. This is what everyone has got to understand! Thanks for posting this, Beachmom!

I wish every liberal/leftist/progressive/Democrat could hear (and really understand!) this speech!

4. next installment
25:59
liberty and justice for all.. we're patriots, defending the beauty of America. . its highest values. .
26:30/27:00
I was born in 1968.. that was the year they assassinated hope in this country
28:00
40 years later, we finally got the hope back. You can't let that (flickering candle) get blown out. .
29:00 any one with a flipphone etc can do horrible things, but also can do beautiful things.
30:00
these are the days of hope and heartbreak , but these days will end. We can end up with the country we feared, or we will have the country we were promised when we were little children

31:00 -32:00 very funny bit on BP a tiny act of greed with horrible outcomes
. .which means that in a symmetrical universe that also a small act of love can produce unimaginally good outcomes
you have no idea how much good you can do, how much positive change you can create

You'll never get the thanks, but that's not what you're in it for. . you're in it to make a better country
33:58
when it gets harder to love, love harder

Panel discussion comes next

5. interview part. .
Edited on Fri Jul-23-10 03:53 PM by MBS
36:34. . . issues about instant unfiltered data.. information has taken huge leap forward, wisdom has not. (nice metaphor about immune systems and antibodies) . .37:30 confidence that country will adapt 38:00 this is a learning moment. . (one advantage) people do learn quicker.

40:00 "this (presidency, governing) is harder than it looks". . very good stuff.

43:20 climate change discussion. . interviewer brought up Kerry re his statement about possibility of lame-duck passage of climate bill
43:56 WATCH THIS! :) John Kerry is a hero. . mistreated by his own party since 2004. .always willing to go first, where it's hard. In 2004, first to go up against this horrible machine, created possibilities for 2006 and 2008. . . and he continues to be a hero. . it's only because of him that (climate change progress is even possible)

48:00 (if you thought we could effect change in one day, you're an idiot)"people thought it would be like an ABC after-school special (quick resolution, happy ending) but it's Lord of the Rings. .it's epic. . these are Orcs, they are here, and they are coming for you
49:00 Obama volunteered to be president after the Titanic hit the iceberg. the hole is so big, and getting bigger. .
50:00 now, when you're most needed. .for more leadership,to be more creative, more inventive

7. I second that! Delivery is part of it, of course.
I saw Van Jones in Austin, TX in 2008. That was a great speech.

10. Thank you, MBS
Van Jones was spot on about JK and it feels so good to see a man of Van Jones caliber gets what we here have said about JK from the get go. When he mentioned '06 and '08 , I said "YES", that is what he did. This is wonderful and I hope JK hears about this, he sure as hell deserves more from the Dem party.

9. Incredible speaker.
I love Van Jones and I regret that he is not a part of the Admin anymore. I have heard him speak 3 times and each time was phenomenal.

I love that Jones does not allow himself to become a victim. He was the subject of a RW smear. He resigned and has moved on and continues to inspire others. Love this guy.
