JK to appear in "Banned in Boston" tonight
http://www.boston.com/ae/celebrity/articles/2010/04/08/top_shelf_talent_on_the_shelf/

Tomorrow is the 15th annual Banned in Boston comedy night to benefit Urban Improv, which means that Aerosmith’s Tom Hamilton has found himself something ridiculous to wear. Hamilton, who usually gets all wigged out and occasionally dresses in drag for his Banned skits, rehearsed for the show yesterday with his frequent Banned cohort, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. As you can see, Hamilton plans to dress up as Bill Clinton, who will have some controversial ideas about how Harvard can boost its endowment. Goodwin will show up as the ghost of Isabella Stewart Gardner, who will have some choice words about the museum’s planned expansion. Other skits will poke fun at James Cameron’s “Avatar,’’ Senator Scott Brown, and the ever-popular Julia Child. Hamilton and Goodwin will be joined by Senator John Kerry, Governor Deval Patrick, and Attorney General Martha Coakley

I wonder if Sen. Kerry might be the one playing Scott Brown

2. Brown as the butt of some jokes? What will all the Repubs have to say?
But, I don't see how Senator Kerry could joke about Brown and not have it reported negatively though, so I am going to go out on a limb here and saying that he won't be joking about Brown. We know that JK has a "funnybone",so whatever he takes part in should be good.
Hey, lets see if the BG reports on this event with a few nice pictures like they did the Brown event.

3. This should be a blast!

JK really seems to shine at events like this, and Goodwin and Patrick should be fun, too (it would be interesting to see how Coakley manages, and I think it's a good move for her to appear; local political watchers really seem to love someone who's willing to make fun of themselves a la the St. Patrick's Day Breakfast.)

I'd actually try to go, but being a benefit, an individual ticket is $200. If you're 21-40, of course, it's a measly $100... I hope someone does report on this!

Edited to add that it's actually happening tomorrow, I think, and here's the link for tickets:

"This year, that day is April 9 and the cast includes Aerosmith's Tom Hamilton as Bill Clinton playing opposite Pulitzer-prize winning author and presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin as the ghost of socialite Isabella Stewart Gardner. If it all sounds a little crazy, it is, but the antics are all part of a Banned in Boston spoof to benefit Urban Improv, a nationally-acclaimed youth program that uses improvisational theater to teach urban kids how to handle issues like racism, bullying, homophobia and drugs. This is Urban Improv's major annual fundraiser and the proceeds support violence prevention and positive youth development programs for 7,000 city kids.

The cast for the 15th annual Banned production also includes US Senator John Kerry, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and his wife Diane, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley, Boston Mayor Tom Menino and Click 'n Clack, the "Car Talk" guys Tom and Ray Magliozzi. The plot of this year's crazy skit revolves around the Avatar sequel being filmed in Boston and Angelina Jolie getting help from dialect coach Mayor Tom Menino. The event will be held at the cool House of Blues in Boston.

"This week, I'm just pumping the show," says Hamilton, who has been practicing his Arkansas accent. "It's really fun. Everybody gets a major buzz on. It's a real party. I'm hoping everybody checks out what Urban Improv is and maybe they'll think it's a good idea and make a donation."

and,

"Sneak Peek: Angelina Jolie, Cher, and Woody Allen, in town to film Avatar II on the Charles, seek help with their Boston accents from a certain mayor who is brought in as dialogue coach. Scott Brown appears on Sarah Palin’s new variety show and sparks fly between these two comely politicos. Julia Child’s book of secret X-rated recipes is uncovered at a yard sale!

On Friday, April 9, Banned in Boston’s zany cast will take over the House of Blues on Lansdowne Street. Boston favorites include Aerosmith rocker, Tom Hamilton, Click ‘n Clack the “Car Talk” guys, Pulitzer Prize winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin, Senator John Kerry, Governor and Mrs. Deval Patrick, Attorney General Martha Coakley and many more."
