Completely, completely OT - some advice?
What would you do?

I was away from everything including computer for the last few days, a really bad cold or a not so bad flu, I don't know. Better but not completly OK now. I am supposed to be back to work tomorrow, and I wonder if I should go or get tested for the darned H1N1 first. Whatever it is that I have, I probably got it during my flight + stopover back from Europe. I got a regular flu shot while I was away... really do not know what to do about tomorrow... Maybe it's overkill, but I do not feel comfortable getting out there and possibly spreading something nasty. I work at a community college, plenty of kids supposed to be in the most vulnerable group out there.

2. Suppose to be contagious
for 3 days. I just got over some type of flu and stayed away from work. The fever lasted for 3 days then it finally broke, but I was totally wiped out with no energy. The cough lasts for about another week, I'm still dealing with that. I just called the doctor and he told me only to come in if I had any problems.

3. Call the doctor and ask for advice
Find out what you are dealing with and see if they want to test you.

Call work and tell them that you have had a bout with some kind of flu-like sickness and want to take an extra day as a precaution.

4. Thanks all for the replies
Just emailed my boss and explained the situation and told him that hopefully I will only be late a couple of hours. And will call the doctor's office as soon as it opens and see what they have to say.

Fedup: I know EXACTLY what you mean about the wiped out phase. No longer feverish yesterday, but even such "heavy lifting" activities like unpacking my bags (finally!) or feeding my four-legged babies left me completely exhausted. I remember some years back when I felt this way for the first time after a few days of fever. At first I did not understand what on earth is happening, I am OK now, why am I so exhausted? And then I realized that it's probably called AGE :-(.

5. . . and interferon : )
at any age, your immune system uses a lot of energy! All those old wives' tales about the need for rest to get over "bugs" do have some basis in fact. Hope your doctor can provide useful info, and that you feel better soon.

7. I read that you can have H1N1 with no fever at all.
So you might have had it, or it could have been a nasty cold. I wonder, though if you can still get a test, now that your immune system seems to have conquered whatever it was?
