New grandson for me too!
Meet Skyler Ash:

He is welcomed by a big brother who turns two this week, and his momma and daddy (my son). Born in Los Angeles--I flew out to spend a week helping out when he was three weeks which was when I took this pic. He's 5 1/2 weeks now. And yes, Ash is his middle name--kind of appropriate given that they are living just a few miles from the wildfires. They've got an air purifier and have the house shut up to deal with the smoke, which is pretty bad in Pasadena. Hopefully it won't last too much longer.

He was 8 lbs. exactly, and 20 1/2" long. He's a good nurser and is growing fast. He's got big feet and hands so he will probably be tall like his 6'1" daddy (does it work the same way as with puppies?).

6. His brother is okay with him, so far!
He's been giving him a goodnight kiss when he (big brother) goes off to bed. But otherwise pretty much ignores him; since Baby doesn't have wheels or a motor, what's to play with? LOL. (This kid is crazy about vehicles of all kinds.) And at 23 months he's still pretty much a baby himself, so it's hard for him to understand that the baby will grow up and be a real playmate before long.

5. He's adorable, ginnyinWI...
...Isn't being a grandma fun? :) Sandsea's new grandson is precious, too.

All these pictures are really testing me, you guys. My daughters aren't okay with me posting pictures of my grandchildren online...and after seeing these I SO want to share! :7

Anyway, enjoy those babies! As you know, they grow up WAY too soon. :grouphug:

7. I don't think posting pics is all that dangerous.
We don't use last names or give addresses or anything, so it's pretty anonymous. Would your daughter be okay with pictures sent via PM?

9. I don't think so, either...
...but I respect their choice. I probably shouldn't PM them, either...but I can't tell you how much I want to. :7

8. My kids post theirs
I try to be careful as far as connecting names and pictures. I used to worry about it, but I really think being more conscientious of day to day surroundings is the only way to really protect kids.

10. I agree. It's just that I also think it is their decision, rather...
...than mine, and I have to respect that decision.

Even though it's killing me... :7

16. mine post pictures and names on Facebook all the time.
I don't know if that's any more secure than here--perhaps, since you only allow friends to see your posts. I was astonished when one of my kids posted the address of their new house! She says, "don't worry Mom, I've got all the security stuff down." And I believe her because she's a very conscientious and savvy young woman. Not saying that Yvonne's daughter is wrong--each person has their own comfort level.

Much congratulations to you and your family.

Ash? Any chance the parents are Sam Raimi fans?

14. I don't think so.
They said they liked the name "Ashton" so just shortened it and made it into a unique middle name.

15. I like the name too, and it fits because
both "sky" and "ash" evoke images of color, don't they? And since both of them are artists--she's a graphic designer and he's a 3-D modeler/animator they both maybe gravitate toward color imagery. That's my explanation anyway!
