Teddy. It came from Teddy. It was never about Teddy, it was about what Teddy believed in. He taught us that. He taught us to laugh while you can because you never knew when a time for tears would come. He taught us to fight on because, if not you, who? He taught us to love life, sing when you can, fight the good fight and have fun. And God knows there was fun to be had with Teddy around.

He taught us that when one golden warrior falls, another steps up and takes his place. He taught us that we endure more than we thought we could, we can love more than we ever thought possible, that pain and suffering are better endured when we share them with others and he taught us to laugh. God Almighty, did he ever teach us to laugh. I learned what it means to be a Happy Warrior and remember that the causes I serve are greater than I am and that I serve them better with a full heart and a warm embrace for others.

Teddy did that for me and for so many others and I will always love him for it. And now the his fight is done. And there are so many battles yet to come. And I swear I hear Teddy whispering in my ear, "Well, if not you, who?" So, we fight on because it's not about me, it's about what I believe in. Thank you Teddy for that and for so much more.

3. Wonderful words. You have expressed what I believe to be the essence of Senator Kennedy.
What an aspirational leader. To bear so much sorry and remember the good life have to offer.

5. Thanks for the excellent tribute
Posted prematurely last night, but this is the third time re-reading this post. It is a beautiful tribute to a man that fought for so much for so many of us. :patriot:

Haven't posted here in ages, but thanks for the nice reading in the various Kennedy/Kerry threads in the last few weeks.

Peace everyone. :grouphug: :hi:

Peaceful Journey, Uncle Ted. :patriot:

ANd I did post this in DU: General. It just seemed like a good summary from me for this past week.

And thanks so, so very much for all you said this week. Losing Teddy is heartbreaking. Sharing that loss with people who understand what it means is nothing less than a blessing and grace on me. I am speechless at finding words that say what is in my heart. Bless you all.

7. Beautifully stated
I was grateful that we were all able to share in the memorial service and mass. What a beautiful and incredible man in so many, many ways.

I'm keeping in my heart what Senator Kerry said about Ted and compassion. Ted's compassion came from knowing and understanding loss. So he KNEW what people needed, and he had the heart and generous spirit to reach out.

And your DU General post just got another rec.
