This Week: Obama got his platform from John Kerry
Well, he might have said "most of his platform, but really. Every time I hear Obama talk about issues I hear John Kerry's words coming from his mouth (it goes without saying that I consider that a good thing).

Anyone else watch This Week this morning? There was a segment of the round table discussion on Obama appointments, and the discussion of Kerry made it worth watching, even though one couldn't help but think, "and why were you not saying these things FOUR YEARS AGO?

As a bonus sideshow, Rahm Emanuel, gave a clinic in question avoidance. I'm gleefully anticipating four years of gnashing republican teeth when they see the technique perfected by Bush officials turned to use by a democratic administration.

1. I saw Rahm on Face the Nation

and he side-stepped questions there too.

The only opinion that interests me on This Week is George Will's. What did he have to say? He's a conservative with some integrity, a rare breed. He'll tell the truth as he sees it, not just talking points.

Edit: I just saw the segment on YouTube. Will was all wet this morning--wrong wrong wrong, and the other panelists had no trouble pointing that out. He's looking for a silver lining for the Repubs, and there just isn't one.

2. More please
Somebody said Obama got most of his platform from John Kerry? Really?? I'd like more info on that, it would be sweet vindication. I cannot believe the number of DUers who can't hear it. I don't blame some of the young people, but some of the others must have been listening to Ralph Nader for the last 8 years.

4. Can't find a transcript.
The video is here: http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=6215708

Comments about Kerry towards the end of the segment, at about -4:20.

George Will: "If Kerry wants it, Kerry has certainly earned it."

Kind words all around - remarkable.

6. BLESS YOU, Whome
for including the timing there! I really didn't want to watch a second more of those self-serving idiots than I had to! When David Gergen seems to be the most sensible person in a group, you know you're in trouble... Anyway, it was good to see that there was no negativity there -- refreshing, indeed -- but I guess it still seemed kind of faint to me (I always want people to see what we see!)

It's good that Obama is taking his time and thinking hard about his choices, but the announcement can't come too soon for me -- the suspense is horrible!

7. was it my imagination, or did George Will really say that Sen. Kerry
"ran well"? If so, that's a refreshing statement, for sure.

5. I think he was referring to the keynote speech
as a "platform" to be seen by the country from - but otherwise I agree that it was great to hear NO ONE challenge the positive comments that in essence said that Kerry is the most deserving - where the reasons were NOT that Obama owed him politically but his competence.

I do agree with you that they could have said the same things on foreign policy in 2004.
