On Tuesday, Beatty said Kerry should return the $111,000 in campaign contributions he has received from the employees of the embattled mortgage lenders, according to OpenSecrets.org.

The Kerry camp responded by tying the government bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to Beatty's party.

"Jeff Beatty seems to have forgotten that this entire mortgage disaster happened under his party's watch," Roger Lau, Kerry's campaign manager said in a statement.

Lau then blasted Beatty for his work as a video game consultant.

"If we're going to get into the business of making demands, perhaps he should consider taking some time off from his busy schedule of consulting on violent video games to answer some questions for Massachusetts voters," Lau said.

Damn! Creating violent video games is NOT cool. More charges at the link. Then there is this comment by "ChathamBaseball" -- I don't know if anything he says is true, but some of it is worth looking into.

You are completely foolish for thinking Beatty is anything special or the right person to represent Massachusetts in the Senate or anywhere for that matter. HE ISN'T EVEN FROM MASSACHUSETTS!!! He's from New Jersey and until 2006, he had never even lived here!!!

You speak ill of Kerry yet truly know nothing about Beatty. Do you know his wife in Atlanta, Georgia divorced him because he had an affair with one of her co-workers?

Did you know his company TotalSecurity.US created a business plan post 9/11 to capitalize on the attacks and the federal spending that would follow? Case in point his HighwayWatch program, dumped by DHS as a waste of money. He's a salesman and sold a product until the authorities wised up and saw how useless it was. DHS now affectionately calls companies like his "September 12th Companies". He's greased the US Government grant money programs for all the revenue his company has ever made. It's a joke.

Are you aware that his so called "work" with the FBI and CIA is completely invalidated and certainly embellished by Beatty? Records reflect that Beatty has not held a security clearance since his days in the Army. How do you serve in the CIA and the FBI without a security clearance? It's impossible.

Hmmm .... an Atlanta connection? The security clearance question is one that could be looked into as well. And, then, there is the most damning and scandalous part:

He’s fake and he’s shady and he isn’t Massachusetts. Not to mention, he was a Yankee fan until he moved here in 2005. Enough said.

A YANKEES FAN???!!!???

1. Is being a Yankees fan even legal in Massachusetts?

A teen from a family we are friends with was quite upset when he saw a T shirt that said something like - "I'm for the Red Soxs and for whoever plays against the Yankees." that he saw when we were vacationing in VT together. (He's a HUGE Yankees fan, also from NJ).

I looked at Beatty's site - which is pathetic for other reasons. He speaks of enjoying Red Sox, Celtics and Patriot games.

I've learned the language (well sorta) - he's a blow in.

2. Anyone else find Beatty's attack today LAME?
http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2008/09/beatty_takes_ai.html

I could write better copy than this:

Republican challenger Jeff Beatty took aim today at US Senator John F. Kerry, chiding him as an "elitist" who is "worried about becoming the secretary of state instead of worrying about the secretaries in our state."

The attack came less than 24 hours after Kerry shook off a primary challenge from Gloucester Lawyer Edward O'Reilly. Beatty, a counter-terrorism consultant and former CIA agent, reached out to the 31 percent of Democratic primary voters who cast ballots for O'Reilly.

"There's a significant number of people, even among the Democratic base, that hard-working base that John Kerry has abandoned in favor of illegal aliens, who are ready to make a change," Beatty said at a lightly attended news conference in front of Financial District office tower that includes offices of the troubled mortgage giant Fannie Mae.

Okay, about "secretaries". Um, Earth to Beatty -- that's just not a growing career anymore. And they prefer the title "Administrative Assistant", thank you very much. And, really, he's going to throw in "illegal aliens" in every statement he makes? Finally, go to the link, and look at his lame campaign signs. It looks like his name is BJeff Eatty. The "B" is weird.

AND, there is a really nice pic at the link of Kerry, which kinda made sifting through the article worth it.

3. That is pretty lame and the signs are ugly
Now, when exactly did Kerry go on this 5 week vacation, paid or otherwise? I seriously think if you took a year (any year) and counted the days in DC being a Senator, the days on work trips to places like glorious Afganistan, days in district meeting with people, legislators, or papers, and days working as a political leader, the number would be greater than citizens who work a 5 day week and have as little as 2 weeks of vacation - and that doesn't count the time he clearly spends reading and learning all that he does on everything and on writing his wonderful speeches. It is absolutely ridiculous that a very productive workaholic is constantly subject to these attacks. (I wonder, if like EOR, Beatty is working full time on his campaign.)
