is anyone watching the Republican Convention ?
i can't watch the whole thing,if i try i need to turn it off after not too long.

but i'm just disgusted with how they are making a big thing out of McCain being a Veteran and POW after the way they attacked Kerry. this isn't against McCain either, i have no problem with them bringing up his service. but for it to happen at the RNC where they were so disgusting towards Kerry's service just 4 years ago makes me want to puke.

i hate those people. i hate the person Mccain picked for VP. so much hypocrisy their. i hate Fred Thompson, Joe Lieberman and every other asshole there.

the people gathering, some talking to CSPAN reporter, the invocation, the first video. . . and I thought: I am so much NOT one of these people.

2. I had it on, then was on Kos reading all the discussion.
It's really a pathetic little convention that they've got going. They can't fill the arena all the way, and c-span showed plenty of bored faces, especially among the younger people. When Uncle Fred and Joementum spoke especially. And Fred, you could say, was the best speaker of the night because he had kind of a Jay Leno delivery going on.

Except for when he did the play by play, blow by blow depiction of McCain's captivity and torture! That was pure exploitation of one man's experience for political gain! It was disgusting, and the people in the audience looked disgusted too. Or at least grossed out. And McCain's MOTHER was in the audience! I can't believe they sank that low--wait, I can--they're Repubs. It was a basically pornographic depiction of violence--designed to titillate. Someone on Kos said it was like Mel Gibson's "Passion of Christ" movie.

Compare it to the one they had four years ago when they were super-charged with excitement and having a great time mocking JK with the purple heart band-aids. NOW it's okay to bring up military service. NOW it's not too long ago to bring up as a valid story to tell. NOW nobody is to question anyone's records or medals! Why, after all, John McCain says it's true, every bit of it! The hypocrisy is astounding when you think about it. They think nobody remembers their performance just four years ago? I hope some journalist points this out! I guess it's still okay if you are a Republican.

As I said, pretty pathetic. Like a balloon with the air leaking out. I'm going to be interested to read what the pundits have to say.

3. This country is stupid beyond belief
I cannot believe this. I just can't believe this. We had better get control of the media on Friday, that's for sure.

5. I am, because I feel the need to know...
...what they are saying and doing. I prefer C-Span, but I look at the others (even fox) to get the spin.

I agree with others here...this whole thing so so ANTI- everything I believe. I am amazed that they are again using people...the religious, the military...for their own purposes. Amazed and angry. I keep hoping that no one is buying this time.

It is all so blatant and obvious to me...but I see family members feeling torn about what to believe. I'm so cynical that I even think the hurricane Gustav excuse for a lame convention(the dog ate my homework) was totally political, and not done out of concern at all. They saw the Democratic Convention and KNEW they could not compete. And it backfired on them, IMHO.
