O, God please help us.

Dear God, Father and Mother of us all,
please help us
to save ourselves
from ourselves,
when we hate
on each other,
eat our own,
abuse the Other,
the gay, the black,
the Arab,the Jew.

How often we forget
we are your children.
We were made to be one.
But we tear and dismember
each other,
our own bodies.
Please God,
may we be one, again.
Amen.

I wrote the prayer. Robert Lentz created the icon, "Captive Daughter of Zion." It is Mary within a concentration camp, note the barbed wire, yellow star, and the Hebrew lettering. Jesus is within her womb holding the Torah.
