OT: VT shootings
This news is just horrible, I have many acquaintances that have kids that go to VT and my kids have friends, and brothers and sisters of friends that go there.

I'm just praying that none of them are involved, this is just so sad.

4. At least 29, plus 17 in the hospital
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=3045574

I thought it was said to be a student, but this article says the identity has not been released, and speculates whether it was someone "connected" with the school.

There were 2 bomb threats last week. They don't know if the incidents are connected.

This is just so awful.

2. I hope everyone you know is okay
but this is quite terrible for a lot of people.

What can we do in our society so people don't get into so much despair and take it out this way?

7. My deepest sympathies on this horrific tragedy
This is awful, just awful. My prayers are with the families of those affected by this terrible event.

FedUp, I am so sorry for everyone at the VT community. This is beyond a nightmare and I hope that the community is able to pull together and help each other through this.

My prayers for you.

8. This is so tragic.
There are quite a few VT alumns who live down here as well, as well as a few local kids who go there now. My thoughts are with my neighbors to the north.

11. Very tragic
and it hits close to home for so many just not here in Virginia but across the country since it is such a popular University.

My son had prior students of his that are at VT, he called and said that he had heard from most of them but not all. He also talked to a few on the internet and this is just so senseless and him being a teacher, this worries him. Have not heard any other news on those that died so tragically, and I do not want to call anyone that has kids there right now,I will keep them all in my thoughts and prayers.

This is just so sad.

9. OMG, why? Why did so many need to lose their lives. How very tragic.

Just horrific. My daughter made this hit home when she said, "I thought I was done worrying about this type of violence since I left high school, now I have to worry about it at college."
I have a working acquaintance that has a son going to Virginia Tech and he is an engineering student, I am praying that he came out of this horrific incident without physical injury.
