Washington Times begrudgently recognizes that Kerry has stayed very active since January.
Interesting.

The Washington Times wants to push the debate (Newt is part of it too). So, he has to say that Kerry is still an important player, which actually lead them to talk about all what Kerry has done in the last three months.

You can see that they are very unhappy to have to talk about that, that they do it against their will, hence the snark, the reminding of the "choked" speech on the Senate floor.

But, all of a sudden, Kerry stops to be the ostracized Democrats that nobody wants to talk to and become somebody who has taken part in all the major crisis of the last few months.

They probably hate Gingritch now, to have accepted the debate.

Kerry conspicuous even out of '08 fray

By Christina Bellantoni
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
April 10, 2007

Sen. John Kerry isn't running for president, but he's assumed the vocal and visible roles of campaign fundraiser, Iraq critic, political author and, now, global warming expert.

The Massachusetts Democrat has inserted himself into every issue on Capitol Hill -- from conditions at veterans' hospitals to Major League Baseball -- keeping his public profile as prominent as it was during his failed 2004 White House bid.

...

Taking a page from Al Gore's playbook, Mr. Kerry has jumped on the climate-change issue, frequently praising the former vice president in campaign e-mails and preparing to debate former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on the topic this morning.

...
Mr. Kerry will debate Mr. Gingrich this morning for two hours in the Russell Senate Office Building. The event is part of a series called "Legislating for the Future," co-sponsored by the Brookings Institution and Rand Corp

1. Ha, Ha, Ha! It must of been so difficult for them to be somewhat kind to Senator Kerry
I particularly liked the statement below,

"The Massachusetts Democrat has inserted himself into every issue on Capitol Hill -- from conditions at veterans' hospitals to Major League Baseball -- keeping his public profile as prominent as it was during his failed 2004 White House bid."

Yep, the Senator is a busy man doing his job for Massachusetts as well as for our nation.

2. Fox has already written its article on the debate

Of course siding largely for Newt. Nothing really surprising there.

...
Speaking with FOX News just before the debate began, Gingrich said that both he and his opponent favor policy changes that would help the environment and halt global warming. But that's where their similarities end, according to Gingrich.

"I think where we disagree is Senator Kerry would represent much more of a big government, big bureaucracy, big litigation approach," he told FOX. "I would represent much more of an incentives, prizes , encouraging people to invest in and implement a new future at a much more rapid rate through the market place. ... He would rely on bureaucrats and lawyers. I'd rely on scientists and entrepreneurs."

When will the so called liberal media report on this?

3. how can Newt say it with a straight face
So Dems are for big government? Has he looked at the ballooning size of the government lately, after 12 years of a GOP Congress and 6 years of a GOP White House?

It's a question of whether you want a big bloated incompetent money-squandering, money-borrowing GOP government, or a big but effective Dem government--run by people who actually believe that government has solutions that can work.

5. Gee - they gave up half way!
Can't say I blame them - Kerry really really beat Newt. That said, Newt was not bad - he was substantially better than either Bush or Cheney. It's good that he is fundamentally unlikable because he could be a real threat in a debate against someone other than Kerry.

I guess we see again why the Yale debate team did so incredibly well while he was on the team. He looked like he was having a very good time.
