I guess that Hillary Clinton is going to fire Terry McAuliffe after that!
Hillary Clinton is all upset because one of Obama's fundraisers has criticized Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich and is asking Obama to remove him from his campaign.

I assume that this means that, after the attacks that McAuliffe has made on Kerry (and Gore), she is going to replace him as her campaign chair. Or is it only when you dare to criticize somebody whose name is Clinton.

Hillary Campaign Blasts Obama Over Maureen Dowd Column

By Greg Sargent

The Hillary Clinton campaign is blasting Barack Obama over a column by Maureen Dowd today in which top Obama fundraiser David Geffen is critical of the Clintons. Camp Hillary just put out the following statement from Clinton spokesperson Howard Wolfson:

"While Senator Obama was denouncing slash and burn politics yesterday, his campaign's finance chair was viciously and personally attacking Senator Clinton and her husband.

"If Senator Obama is indeed sincere about his repeated claims to change the tone of our politics, he should immediately denounce these remarks, remove Mr. Geffen from his campaign and return his money.

"While Democrats should engage in a vigorous debate on the issues, there is no place in our party or our politics for the kind of personal insults made by Senator Obama's principal fundraiser."

Note that the Clinton campaign is demanding that Obama sever his ties with Geffen and return his money. More soon.

1. Yep - and she has to fire Carville who has attacked Dean and Kerry
I guess that means that many of us led by BLM can't ever work for a campaign either.

I think he hit a nerve there - and this is a Clinton vulnerablity. Even if it were just pardoning someone for speculation because they were campaign contributors is very bad. That he was on the BCCI list is really bad - especially when wikipedia (a semi credible source) links him to Iraqi arms deals.

5. Yep, it's a weakness
And more power to Obama's people for recognizing corruption and calling it out.

BLM has been right all along -- the Clintons' issues with corruption were never thoroughly looked into while Bill held office. A lot can come to light when someone's willing to shine that light on it.

6. The Marc Rich pardon stunk to the high heavens
It got lost because the RW grabbed onto it for all the wrong reasons. It was not a pardon that should have been issued by Clinton.

Clintons: It's all about the money.

2. More on the Hillary front
Fearmongering

Clinton also sought to draw a contrast with some of her Democratic rivals on the issue of terrorism. "Some people may be running who may tell you that we don't face a real threat from terrorism," she said. "I am not one of those."

As per the link, this quote has been verified by Peter Daou, but they might claim later that it is referring to Republican candidates.

Um... I don't really buy that, and I don't think anyone else will either. Why would Hillary feel the need to contrast herself with Republican candidates in the first place? Sorry to break it to her, but she is NOT the nominee at this point. And secondly, what the hell Republican candidate has suggested that there's not a real threat from terrorism?

She just insinuated that other Democrats don't believe in a threat of terrorism. Nice work using a GOP talking point against her own party. Whose vote is she after anyway?

3. Yep, MAJOR turnoff -- it's really annoying when the RW
says that about Democrats -- that everyone will die if Dems are elected, that they don't understand the threat, etc. Doesn't Hillary get that triangulating is SO 1990s and will not be tolerated by the base anymore?

9. I know
Personally, it doesn't bother me if she decides to take this route... provided that the primary voters penalize her for it. If she wants to self-destruct, that's perfectly all right by me -- I just hope the destruction part takes place.
