Mr. blm had to contribute to coverage of a big NC story in Raleigh yesterday and
guess what? He had dinner afterwards with other people covering the story, and they were talking about how they don't really like the Dem choices in the race so far. Mr. blm piped up that he still prefers John Kerry as president, and a couple of the others said they are coming to realize how much more they liked him, too, that he always spoke to people in a way that respected their intelligence instead of pandering to them politically.

Too bad they didn't see it that clearly as it was happening.

2. I knew this would be the next stage
Kind of reminds me of marriage/relationship breakups. Confused spouses/partners fleeing, then only later realizing what they've lost. Equally, sadly predictable.sigh :(
And, yes, the part about respecting "their intelligence instead of pandering to them politically." They sure got that right.
Kudos to mr. blm, for speaking his mind. Good spousal choice there :)

4. Interesting to note - Mr. blm has NEVER spoken up ONCE politically to anyone else
in his newsroom or anywhere else in the over 7 years we've been together.

3. I wonder how much of this was always there
but no one wanted to be the first to say it. As newsmen, they did get enough first hand contact or at least second hand contact that they did see more than the average person did.

As the 2008 nastiness is so intense already, Kerry's classy refusal to take the low road, his real optimism, and genuine goodness will be a real contrast.

5. Nice story.
I say, better late than never. JK is still the best president we should have.

6. That's great!
In a way, at least. I wish people had reacted this way earlier. But until JK is out of politics, we have to keep our eye on the narrative, and make sure he gets the one he deserves.

7. Keep working for Kerry
Right. There's real work for us ahead, with Kerry, and I think it's going to be a long time before he's out of politics. He wants a strong Democratic Party that can save the country, and we all have to work on that. My private hope is that a Dem president in '08 will appoint Kerry as Secretary of State--that idea conflicts with another, equally important one: we also need him badly in the Senate. But whichever it will be-- Carry on, John Kerry!

9. You don't know what you've got till it's gone.
Nobody even comes close to Kerry's leadership ability and his knowledge on the issues. He's also got more integrity, loyalty and heart than the bunch of them. John Kerry should be president. We need him. We really need him.

consider asking his fellow media peeps if they heard about or participated in an organized strategy to not cover JK's swiftboat responses, as was rumored inside the campaign, in Aug-Sept. 2004?

Just askin', in case someone wants to REALLY unpack the 2004 election someday...

11. What is his take on the
Orange Alert?

Not to put you on the spot but I think that may be the ugliest aspect of the 2004 campaign from the White House to the Media.

12. He's not around the national people these days.
Edited on Sun Feb-18-07 04:11 PM by blm
He turned down the national desk job offer last year. This was a big NC political story he was involved with last week. They do hang with some of Edwards' people, though, and still said they aren't happy with the choices so far. That's about all I can offer. Mr. blm rarely gets with the political people these days - last week was an exception as there were no cameras allowed at this event.
