Excellent radio address-just excellent!
Excellent, excellent radio address, from defending our vets to speaking out about the squandered money being used for olympic sized pools instead of protection for our soldiers and setting firm benchmarks.

I loved these ending comments.

"It takes a strong heart to stand for something even when it’s unpopular. These veterans remind all of us that patriotism does not belong to those who take the easy road. It belongs to those who defend their country. Sometimes loving your country demands you tell the truth in the face of authority. This is one of those times. Let’s stand with the troops, not just in words but in action."

1. To be honest, I would have hoped that he was stronger on the notion of withdrawing troops, but this
is THE DEMOCRATIC ADDRESS, not a Kerry address, so I assume he had to be sure nobody would be shocked.

3. True, but he focused on some important situations and he
can't be accused of just promoting his ideas.

7. Very strong radio address from the Senator.
I thoroughly enjoy JK's voice!!

I love his committment to spreading the word about Brian, and letting America know the reality of war. It's killing the brave troops in harms way, and Bush's failed leadership is putting more and more people at risk. Lets hope and pray the new way forward is John Kerry's "Set A Deadline" legislation and not another troop surge that will only place tens of thousands more targets in harms way!!

Thank you John Kerry, wonderful address!!

15. He sounds good
Gosh, you are so lucky he's your senator! :hi:

The story about the young man who died, I can see Kerry's pain about it. He saw it in Vietnam.

Why doesn't our President listen to Kerry and other Senators who are saying "let's let Iraq run Iraq" and it's time to go home?

Kerry raps GOP, Bush's Iraq troop surge

By ANDREW MIGA, Associated Press Writer Sat Feb 10, 11:04 AM ET

WASHINGTON - Sen.
John Kerry on Saturday blamed Republicans for squelching Senate debate on the
Iraq war and warned that
President Bush's plan for more troops in Iraq is a mistake.

"Another 21,000 troops sent into Iraq, with no visible end or strategy, ignores the best advice from our own generals and isn't the best way to keep faith with the courage and commitment of our soldiers," the Massachusetts Democrat said in his party's weekly radio address.

Kerry branded Bush's proposal for additional forces as "nothing more than the escalation of a misguided war."

...
"If there was a straight up-or-down, yes-or-no vote this week on whether the United States should keep up an indefinite presence in Iraq, it would be voted down," Kerry said.

The senator called on Congress to take stronger action to end the war.

"The Congress should tell President Bush to end this open-ended commitment of American troops," Kerry said. "The United States must get tough with Iraqi politicians — pressure them to meet tough benchmarks. ... Congress must push this administration to find not just a new way forward in Iraq, but the right way forward."

I really like the Vets and Senators coming together on this.

Senator Kerry is showing real leadership in trying to end this war. Thank you Senator.
