Clinton strong on foreign policy? And this coming from McAuliffe.
Terry McAuliffe, Clinton’s campaign chairman. “She is strong on foreign policy. People have got to know you are going to keep them safe.”

Sorry, but one trip to Iraq in two years for a photo-op does not make her an expert. I am screaming already and it has just begun.

1. Consider the quote
Terry McAuliffe - her campaign manager, the former head of the DNC during a period where the party declined. An expert fund raiser says she has foreign policy experience.

His foreign policy experience is likely limited to getting funding from Indonesia and China (leaving Democrats tainted with campaign financing corruption) and GLOBAL CROSSINGS - a bit of corrupt practices.

Kerry has been complimented by foreign policy experts on his foreign policy knowledge and diplomatic skills. (It was noteworthy that the Clinton who gave the fall 2006 foreign policy speech was named Bill.

2. Did I miss hearing this
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 02:00 AM by kerrygoddess
somewhere, or am I just in a daze. McAuliffe is her campaign manager? I thought it was Patti Solis Doyle.

Edited to add: See the WaPo list of her team - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/20/AR2007012001608.html
So McAwful publishes the book that bashes JK and becomes campaign manager overnight.

5. looking at the list in WaPo,
I don't see any JK people there. They're ALL Clintonistas, which is exactly what bothers me. . . as do the various articles which report Hillary's extreme emphasis on loyalty. (Remind you of anyone currently in the White House? )
Wa Po said nothing about McAuliffe there, though he sure seems eager to be part of their fund-raising operation , even if he's not yet. . .????

6. ah, he's the campaign CHAIR
that's fund-raising, a little different than manager. But still, central to the action. BTW ,the Times link didn't work for me for some reason , but this did: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-2557916,00.html
Thanks for bringing this article to our attention, Wisteria. It's chilling, especially the extended parallels (eagerly pumped by McAuliffe) to Maggie Thatcher, and McAuliffe's assumption that she would win. I was going to put up excerpts, but it's hard to decide which part is most important, or most disgusting. Uggh!

I continue to believe that she's going to tank during the primaries.
McAuliffe may believe that people will "just love her" when they get to know her; but he also asserts that the Clinton marriage is "just great".

This has to be stopped.

9. I took a look at the list and not knowing to much about the people assumed
they were loyal Kerry people and had no original connections to the Clinton's. Thanks for pointing that out.

10. They look like they were the people added in the general election

with prior Clinton ties. Interesting that a Kerry Rapid Response person (close to Schumer) would be picked up by McAuliffe. After what he said in the book, that seems hypocritical. (Hillary may not be able to use Kerry's choosen method - get out the truth.)

Kerry in the general election pulled in people from all the other candidates - that always happens. I see no names that were in the 2 books I read on the primaries. The only Kerry person I heard she got was Peter T (something) who was the interface to the blogosphere.

15. LOL!
"Crossed over" - I like that. I have concerns about Peter - he knows the blogosphere and the players on the blogosphere.

14. They never really were JK people
That's the problem. Never having run a national campaign, and having to trust people who will be running themselves next time. Kerry should have been able to trust a former president. The people around Hillary have their corporate hooks into DC, and the bad-mouthing started early, not that mistakes weren't made.

Some of it was McAuliffe not having done his job for years, beyond fund-raising. Regardless of loyalties.

I agree that lack of media, time to bond, even learn about the facts, was what lost it for us, and for a race that DC beltway felt we couldn't win. Part not wanting to help with a losing proposition, as well as waiting for 2008. We remember the lackluster, and inadequate support among the electeds.

As I said on another thread, I don't believe people went to the polls understanding why they needed change, or what they were losing in not having Kerry. That is media saying Bush is better for their business and consolidation.

7. It was announced weeks ago that, if Clinton ran, he would be her campaign chair.

This is why even the Herald Today calls the book for what it is:
http://news.bostonherald.com/politics/view.bg?articleid=178305

Former Democratic Party boss Terry McAuliffe shamelessly admits his scrappy new memoir is meant mainly to be self-serving. When his book, “What a Party! My Life Among Democrats - Presidents, Candidates, Donors, Activists, and other Wild Animals” (Thomas Dunne Books, $24.95), isn’t serving McAuliffe’s interests, it’s genuflecting at the altar of his close friends and patrons, former President Bill and presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton.
With Hillary’s announcement yesterday that she’s “in it to win,” it’s probably no coincidence that McAuliffe’s memoir, which hits bookstores Tuesday, blasts one of her potential 2008 rivals, Sen. John Kerry. Indeed, McAuliffe goes out of his way to lambaste Kerry’s failed 2004 presidential bid, calling it “one of the biggest acts of political malpractice in the history of American politics.”

8. That is good! The Boston Herald plays it up the other way, of course.

http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9htfMRzfbNFqhUBlxzQtDMD;_ylu=X3oDMTBjMHZkMjZyBHBvcwMxBHNlYwNzcg--/SIG=12kt3hi2e/EXP=1169477363/**http%3a//news.bostonherald.com/politics/view.bg%3farticleid=178306

The headline has changed somewhat from late last night when I read it. It didn't feature JK's response until the middle and it seemed muddled in there. So, this is better. But still, with words like doomed it gets the point it wants to make across.
