Net Neutrality -- anyone know what Kerry will do as chairman?
Here's a front paged story on dKos:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/12/29/212351/02

Any time I see Net Neutrality discussed, I always comment that Kerry will be replacing Ted Stevens as the chairman of that committee. But really, I haven't heard a statement from him about this lately, and honestly, I'm not completely up on the ins and outs of net neutrality. I only know that big cable companies and phone companies want to create a "toll road" which will end up freezing out smaller sites and blogs who can't pay unlike the big sites. I know that Kerry supports Net Neutrality, but beyond that, I'm not sure what he's going to do.

1. Technically incorrect.
Committee assignments are not set for sub-committees. I think the only one we can reasonably expect is that sub-committee in SFRC that puts Sen. Kerry as Chairman of the committee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs.

Plus, Ted Stevens was chair of the whole Commerce Committee. I believe Daniel Akaka now takes over. Kerry was Ranking Member of the Innovation, Technology and Competitiveness sub-comm, but it remains to be seen if he wants/keeps that sub-comm as Chair.

BTW, Kerry strongly favors net neutrality.

2. Oh, okay -- I didn't realize that wasn't set. I won't comment on that
anymore. Gee -- he would be good in that job, of course, since it's so technical (poor old Ted "the tubes" Stevens was VERY confused in that job), but this goes back to our old "we need to clone the Senator" issue. He can't be everywhere all the time. Still . . . bloggers would positively LOVE him if he was subcommittee chairman for this and did good work . . . Just sayin'.

3. He is for net neutrality.
He did have a statement about that last year.
