Deaniacs hate on Kerry? Here in the JK forum people keep endorsing Dean for the DNC, while the DFA forum posters put down crap like, "well at least Kerry was electable (harhar)..."
(Reference to Dean's famous "I want to know" speech, just in case you lost it.)
As a Derryiac, I'm damned tired of it. Just accept that they are buds, OK?

1. hmm maybe it has to do with
the type of people who are especially attracted to a candidate like JK? Thoughtful, intellectual types? :)
Or maybe we feel so totally secure in our choice of candidate, that we don't need to scream and growl and gnaw on the ankles of other peoples' favorites! ;) ;)

where you can tell they're buds. Kerry doesn't act like that around just anybody, relaxed and happy-looking.

It also may have to do with Deaniacs being somewhat against career politicians and business as usual. I'm sure they see Kerry as part of the problem they're fighting. Somehow, I get the feeling that many Deaniacs would either be green, or not into politics at all without Dean. They seem to dislike and distrust politicians in general. I might be wrong.

4. I think Dean is a career politician.
I know some Deaniacs would disagree, but still being a DNC delegate, then a governor, then running for president, and now for DNC chair.
Nothing wrong with it as a career. It's like being a lawyer, it's got bad press but there are some really great lawyers out there.

7. Yep, definitely. I don't like the whole insider/outsider debate.
JFK was an insider, Carter was an outsider (my heroes), nuff said.

3. I dont know why but I think many are upset at the loss
I think Dean would make a fine DNC chair. I think many like to stir up shit personally.

8. Some of them seem to be more comfortable being angry so when Dean
becomes Chair, we will see if they stay happy or get pissy about something else. God knows there is plenty to be pissed about. Focus on the other friggin party people.

6. I don't know why they do that but it is annoying as hell. How many of
them actually read Tour of Duty or watched Going Upriver because I just don't think they would be so cold to him if they had bothered to learn more about him. You should ask them that. I would be curious about the answer.

I swear some people just never got over the Primaries. Geez, that is the way the system works but we are still all on the same side, or at least we are supposed to be.

I love both of them so I don't get why people act like it is mutually exclusive. I think they have treated each other very well since Kerry got the nomination and the earlier stuff is just part of politics. It's a tough game.

I also really like Clark and Edwards. The competitiveness between fellow Dems is so stupid and counter-productive.

I also love Harry Reid now.

I'm sick of the hate spewed at the Dems by fellow Dems.

(I'm, of course, excluding Joementum making out with Shrub after the SOTU. He pisses me off although he was good on TDS. He is a neo-con on foreign policy)

9. Listen, I must confess I've never seen Going Up River or
read Tour of Duty. But I did see "Frontline: The Choice 2004" Did anyone else see it? It was great comparing JK's life with Dubya.
I want to see Going Up River with my Dad, who was a conscientious objector during the Vietnam War.

13. You can watch the movie for free on-line (that is what I did).
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 12:31 AM by Pirate Smile
I'm just trying to figure out why some people didn't "get" him. You obviously did.

If you want the link, I will search for it for you. There is a link where you don't have to down-load it to your computer or anything to watch it.
edit to add. I did see the Frontline piece. It was good. I liked the part with his friend saying he never had any money and he still owed him money.

14. I tried to watch the download before the election, but
I've got the cheap dial-up compuserve connection so it didn't work. But thanks for saying you'll hunt for it.
I get it, I get it. But what I don't understand is your comment "I liked the part with his friend saying he never had any money and he stilled owed him money." I don't remember that part.

15. I thought it was funny. I think it was from that PBS 2 hour show. It was
a college friend and, even though everybody thinks Kerry was rich, he wasn't and didn't have much while at school. It was just his friend talking about them and laughing. I thought it was cute. Maybe it was a different program but I thought it was that one.

I didn't want to download the movie to my computer either (it sounds like it takes a long time and a lot of memory) but later someone posted a link that STREAMED the movie so you didn't have to do either of those things. Could you do that on your computer?
