Kerry campaigns in Florida
(this is clearly written before hand, because at least some of the events have not yet happened - Mahoney's eveny was supposed to be at 1pm - Welcome to AP professionalism - reporting from PR releases).

Kerry raises money for Davis, Democrats
BRENDAN FARRINGTON
Associated Press

MIAMI - Sen. John Kerry was in Florida on Saturday raising money for gubernatorial candidate Jim Davis and several congressional hopefuls, including Tim Mahoney, who is seeking U.S. Rep. Mark Foley's seat after Foley quit over e-mails he sent teenage male pages.

...
"I am working hard to raise the money I need to talk to a growing number of Floridians that are paying attention to this race," Davis said. "I am not trying to compete with the amount of money Charlie Crist raises ... I simply need to raise enough money to talk about what I believe, which is the state is ready for change."

The visit by Kerry, the Democrats' 2004 presidential nominee, begins a big push for Davis, who also will be helped in the upcoming week by former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama. All are considered potential presidential candidates in 2008.

The Kerry visit also helps Mahoney as Republicans scramble to find an opponent to fill in for Foley, whose name will remain on the ballot. The Massachusetts senator said the event with Mahoney would be about issues, and not Foley's resignation.

...

"Florida needs a governor and membership in Congress that will work in synch to advance our priorities," Kerry said. "We'll never have as much money as the Republicans, but what we have are real ideas that make a difference."

1. Have you seen the latest tinfoil theory on GD about Foley.
Because Mahoney is a former Republican, a poster suggests that he is a GOP plant and that the GOP knew that the scandal would happen and that he somehow won the Democratic seat in order to save the seat for the GOP?

:rofl::rofl::rofl::tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat:

It seems a little complicated when all they needed was to push the guy out themselves.

2. I think I killed that
Got a PM.

These bastards do so much stuff, I can understand people going a bit wild on occasion. It would be a win-win though - run the guaranteed Foley, but also have a back-up mole. Some people do choose their party based on the district they're in or what's expedient, not their political beliefs.

4. This was briefly on my news tonight
Where is Senator Kerry today? (And that odious Romney. The local media is tracking both, sigh, as they go around the country speaking at events for the good guys and events for the Dark Sith Lords rooting for America's destruction, respectively.)

That's a nice pic. The Senator looks great. OMG, can you believe the timing on this? Did Sen. Kerry give any remarks at this press event?
