I'm a dumbass.
I broke my wrist this afternoon mowing the lawn of all things. That takes talent, my friends. :banghead:

1. You poor dear. That is a miserable situation and you have to be SO
careful of it.

You aren't SO dumb, darlin' - I went out tobaggoning as a teen when I wasn't supposed to - ended up with a broken tailbone. But, I was too embarassed to say how bad my rear end hurt and went down the hill two more times.

2. Oh, I'm so sorry for this.
And impressed that you can still type. How long will you be in a cast? (I hope it heals fast.)

3. OMG!
Sorry to hear that! I spent a couple of hours in the yard this morning, it's always a challenge to keep from injuring myself.

So how did it happen?

4. Oh, my!
Are you OK, IB? That's just horrible. Which wrist, right or left, and which hand do you use to write, etc.?
Geeze, this is really bad news.

:-(

6. Oww. Sorry to hear that.
:-(

I hope it heals quickly and doesn't hinder you too much in the meantime.

Oh, and as long as you can sign the birthday card (or already signed it)... that's the important thing, right? ;-)

7. Thanks for the well wishes.
It's my right wrist. (I'm a rightie of course.) I was walking backward and fell into a hole. I heard it pop so I knew it wasn't good. Right now it's just in a fancy splint. I have to call the orthopedist tomorrow to make an appointment to have it set and casted. I broke my hand three years ago so I developed some one finger typing skills then.

10. I've had some classic bone-breaking accidents
First of all, I hope you heal up quickly, IB. It's no fun being a rightie without a functioning right hand.

I think I can top you in the dumbass/klutz category. I actually broke my foot while I was walking down a flat, smooth concrete path. I didn't trip over anything, because there was nothing in the way. No holes or cracks of any kind in the concrete. My ankle just turned and I fell over. When they x-rayed it at the hospital, the tendon in my ankle had pulled out a piece of bone in my foot. I've also broken my thumb when I slammed a car door on it. Then there was my classic running-for-the-phone, tripping on the step into the kitchen, falling on my wrist and hearing it crack, answering the phone anyway, and it turned out to be a wrong number. Oh, and then there's the toe I broke when I opened a door and forgot to get my foot out of the way.

My brother (who is just as much of a klutz as me) and I refer to this as the family "dexterity problem".

I hope you're not in too much pain.

Just about every significant injury I've ever gotten has made me feel like a dumbass. But I'm really not, and neither are you. Shit happens. :-)

Can you drive ok?

You are not an dumbass. Now you want to talk about silly and dumb, I broke mine when I was a teenager being a non-violent person that I am, I did it breaking up an old boyfriend and a guy who I was broken up with at the time ( who happens to be my husband now).

I was at our lake and ran into the old boyfriend who was a wrestler and the HS quarterback and my now husband just happened upon us and went crazy jealous ( over little ole me). So when they stood up and got into each other faces little me got in the middle and pushed them away and slipped as I was doing it and fell to the ground, thats when I heard the crack. Although it really hurt at the time, I just couldn't believe that 2 guys would fight over little ole me.

15. I'll be feeling her pain
for the next six weeks. Sounds like she was having more fun at the time than I was.

Too bad I'm not going to the NH Jefferson/Jackson Dinner. I could have JK sign my cast.
