OMFG, That is an amazing ad. They must run this against other Rethugs who voted against this funding. OMFG. That is incredible. (Ahm, yeah, I think someone learned something about fighting back against the ChickenHawks who talk tough and run away from supporting actual veterans.)

I am, pardon the expression, blown away by this. WOW!

BTW, this is the group that Sen. Kerry asked us to support in his e-mail yesterday. Holy crap, somebody is definitely not taking any shit from these people any more. Wow! (Oh be still my beating heart. That was awesome. Best ad ever.)

5. It's Wes Clark's org, right?
I just read that in the paper. Good that John Kerry has allied with Wes Clark. That is more that can be said about Clark's supporters on line . . .

My stupid sound card is broken on the computer!! I would love to see this ad.

leaders endorsed Kerry's withdrawal plan:

7. Also Nathaniel Fick, who was in the video that premiered at Harvard
in March of this year, Hidden Wounds. You can see his story here: http://ksgaccman.harvard.edu/iop/events_forum_video.asp?ID=2973

This talks about Fick's PTSD. The premier had Sen. Max Cleland, Sen. John Kerry and Del Sandusky, among others in attendance. (Remember this?)

Wow! Just Wow!

From the Story about Fick in the Boston Globe:

Fick, a Dartmouth graduate, joined the military to test himself and because he believed members of the privileged class should serve. In Iraq, he led a reconnaissance unit to Baghdad. Carnage became commonplace, and the pressure of making life and death decisions was relentless. When he returned home, Fick fell into deep depression. He found relief writing about his experiences, an exercise that became the book, "One Bullet Away."

Fick said he hoped telling his story makes post-traumatic stress disorder real to people who don't know a soldier. People returning from Iraq are going to have serious problems, he said, and society needs ensure they get proper care, unlike so many Vietnam veterans. "Their problems have endured the 30-40 years since they came back," Fick said. "I don't want to see that repeated."

9. More dirt on Allen -- he has apology "3.0" per Josh Marshall
and is caught in a lie:

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/009763.php

Allen quote:

I've learned a valuable lesson about the power of words, about how words carelessly chosen, or in my case, even made up, can have a totally unintended meaning and impact for another person from another background or from a different cultural perspective.

Josh says:

This, of course, is a reference to his calling the Webb campaign volunteer "Macaca".

But let's review. We know that not only is "macaca" a widely used racial epithet in American crypto-racist and white supremacist circles. Its apparent origin is among the colonial population of francophone North Africa -- where Allen's mother was raised.

Now, call me ungenerous, but given those facts, the idea that "macaca" was simply three syllables Allen randomly strung together when digging at a dark-skinned young man who was getting on his nerves just doesn't strike me as credible.

I don't expect Allen to admit now that rather than make this name up it was a synonym for the N-word that he was fond of when he was a kid. But he's practically begging for renewed attention to this transparent lie by weaving it, again and again, into his strained apologies.

Link to Va. paper:

http://home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story.cfm?story=110917&ran=162052&tref=po

Just looking at the headline, I have to say, Allen is screwing up royally here. He should shut up about it, because the more he talks, the worse he sounds! Damn -- are we going to be able to pull this off in Virginia? A few months ago, I was less hopeful, but now -- things are looking up.

10. They mention the noose hanging in his law office -- this is local
news coverage which means this article is utterly devastating. Let's thank TNR for their good work on breaking this story originally (Allen's racist past). I can tell you that the local MSM blew off the story, but the macaca remark gave it new life. It's seeping in -- and it's true (unlike the GOP smears which are normally lies). I am pretty confident now that the Oval Office has been completely shut out of Allen's future -- now it's about him surviving his Senate race.

A NOOSE?!?!?!?! There are very few more deserving of not coming back next January than this idiot. Seems there is good chance of this actually happening, wonderful.

12. Because everyone hangs
a lasso from a tree!

(September 13, 2006 -- 04:39 PM EDT)

Apparently Sen. Allen (R-VA) now says the noose he had as an office decoration was "more of a lasso".

13. Now, how in the
hell is something "more" of a lasso? It either is or it isn't a lasso.

This would be kind of funny if it weren't, you know, appallingly racist.

Republican spin can only go so far--and I do think people are on to them.
Someone said that * is fast approaching the zone where, the more he talks about something, the less people believe him. Like with Social Security. I agree!

17. BTW, the post on the video is on the home page
That's nice. I hope this ad gets as much free publicity as possible and that as many people as possible e-mail all their friends and ask them to watch it.

Bravo Senator Kerry for endorsing this group.
