Hey, cool, my mom saw a snippet of Kerry's Boston speech on German TV!
She told me that she saw Bush and Kerry earlier today on German's ZDF channel. I searched for it online and found it. It's a critical report about Bush and his misuse of 9/11. It starts "On this day of remembrance the critics become more silent as the American people rally around the flag but they don't rally around their president anymore. His popularity is as low as never before and his only triumph card, he thinks, is the War on Terror. He uses this day to conjure horror scenarios and says that only his political course could protect the American citizens." They then show snippets of Bush's different speeches during the last days before talking about the Democrats who criticize Bush for conjuring this atmosphere of fear. That's when they show Kerry in Boston last Saturday when he said: "Every time this administration is down in the polls ... they trot out the fear card." At the end the German journalist says that Bush doesn't look back at this day of remembrance but has only the November election in his mind where it looks like the Republicans are going to loose.

Here's the link to the website: http://www.heute.de/ZDFheute/0,1360,,00.html. Scroll down the right column titled "Mediathek" until you see Bush's picture. Click on the video called "Bush schwört auf Kampf gegen den Terror".

or as perceptive - it so a incredibly small minded our President really is, his mind is only on elections at a time of remembrance of horrors.

It was cool viewing the TV clip - even though I don't know German. With your description and the clips, it was possible to get the feel for of the coverage.

4. I just saw this post over at Atrios
by Attaturk: http://atrios.blogspot.com/2006_09_10_atrios_archive.html#115803206812971341

It's not bad enough to have the RNC trashing dems, but the left has to do it too.

I felt like screaming, "What about Kerry, you dimwit?"

But there are already 158 comments on that thread (none mentioning Kerry's speech, btw), and who'd hear my ravings???

2. That was very cool to watch!
It's nice to see German media (and European media in general) looking at American politcs and seeing that a change is coming and that Bush is, indeed, a very unpopular President.

Thanks for pointing this out, I really enjoyed watching it.

6. Can you post this in GD? It's a great example of how Europe TV will cover
US news stories with more footage of Democrats speaking out than most of the corporate media will in our own country.

7. I watched it, but didn't see Kerry
The report was excellent, but they must have cut Kerry's part out, because all I saw was Reid on the Senate floor :-(

9. They changed the report for the evening news :-(
They added some new clips, but no Kerry anymore, that's so sad. At least, the people who watched during the day saw him, and my mom recognized him immediately, of course. *g*

8. Wow, thanks for posting this! US media never mentions him at all.
This wonderful speech was totally ignored. The only press he got was C-Span's "Road to the White House" spot. And if they didn't think he was running in '08, he wouldn't have been covered there either.
