Mayor Bob O'Connor of Pittsburgh has died.
Edited on Fri Sep-01-06 08:27 PM by globalvillage
A couple minutes ago.
God rest your soul, Mayor O'Connor.

He was a good man.

I took this just a couple months ago at Rendell's kickoff.

6. His successor will be sworn in tonight.
Luke Ravenstahl. Twenty six years old, do you believe it?

7. It is a very sad day for Pittsburgh, Tay.
He was much loved.
They're showing film of him now on the local news holding a Thank You Pittsburgh sign on the streets of Pittsburgh after he won the election a few short months ago.
Now that's just too sad for words.

8. Again, I am so sorry to hear this
That cancer spread very quickly. This is such a loss for his family, the people of Pittsburgh and for the Democrats. God be with his family and friends at this time.

9. Thanks, Tay.
Mayor Ravenstahl was just sworn in. Now that seems a bit quick to me, but it's required by the city charter. The ceremony was very brief and solemn.

I took this pic of the new mayor at a Casey event a few months ago.
