As much as I love to travel, the best part is always coming home. My trip today was without incident. I got an earlier flight than planned and got upped to business class, which is always nice. But the best part of the day was, of all things, picking up my car. My habit is to park off-airport and take the shuttle. The drivers are nice and the lot is covered. And when I'm really tired, I don't have to worry about forgetting where I parked, it's right on the little ticket, which I try not to lose. So, the driver pulls up to my car and gets my bag, looks at my back window and says, "Nice sticker." "Thanks." I say, not really knowing which of the three he's referring to. It's Pittsburgh. I get that reaction as often than not. "John Kerry," he says, "great man." "I like him," I said as I handed him his tip. Big smile from the driver. "Me too."
I'm home. :-)
StoryTeller, maybe just me (more likely, it was you), but Omaha did seem just a bit more purple than on my last visit. I hope some day to tell a similar story, but the year will be 2008, the city will be Omaha, and the sticker will be in the back window of my rental. If we have to convince them one Nebraskan at a time. Thanks again for the hospitality of your fair city, and thanks for fighting the good fight. It was great meeting you.
