OT but a topic JK cares strongly about: cancer.

There is an post on the greatest page about a woman who is dying from cancer and who has just biked across the country. Jane Tomlinson started in San Francisco and will end her trek in NYC: the only media coverage she got was the BBC. Doesn't this sound familiar? They always seem to "scoop" our "journalists" but that isn't really surprising. Our media is pretty useless as a source of anything that resembles news.

This is certainly something Senator Kerry would care about, to be sure, having recently biked for cancer research and treatment himself.

1. Hopefully she's getting a lot of local media attention.

We just had a small group of cyclists to come through our area raising awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. (One of the young men riding has the disease.) They are riding from the Canadian border to Key West. (I guess this would be about the half-way point.) Anyway, there were stories in both of our small local newspapers and hopefully they'll get some coverage from larger papers along the way.

I agree though, Ms. Tomlison's ride seems like something that JK would be very interested in knowing about.

This story is both inspiring and heartbreaking. Maybe you're right about local media coverage. Or maybe there will be coverage in NYC when she gets there.
